Kindle For PC 1.8.0
I just noticed a new version is out. It looks like the crash issue of 1.7.1 is fixed in 1.8.0!
It's no longer has to check every archive item. I'm not brave I just had to install K4PC on my new hard drive and when it didn't crashed I checked the version and sure enough it's a new one. ![]() Tools work fine with this version

The biggest change I see is that they've added four new Dictionaries for different languages:
Spanish Italian French Portuguese I also had a strange undownloadable version of the Italian Dictionary in my Archived Items on Kindle for PC that has no title (see attached image). De-registering and then registering the App again has cleared it. Last edited by Daveoc64; 10-09-2011 at 08:15 AM. |

Unfortunately it crashed for me after installing and always crashed after launch (when it tried to show the terms of service). Again, reverting to 1.4.1.

Mine was definitely a new installation. I just spent the last two days switching everything over a to a new hard drive. Windows updates alone took 6 hours to install and I'm slowly getting everything back on here. I plan to RMA my old drive. I wish WD had as good as customer service as Amazon's Kindle does.

Yep. No problem using them here.
The biggest change I see on the new version is the dictionary window. Maybe it was like that but it looks different to me. It does seem more stable than the previous release. So now I can make collections on the K4PC and transfer them to the K4 or K3.

I've been using K4PC version 1.2 on my desktop so that I can deDRM books, so I haven't kept up with the newer versions. Today I heard the newer versions have Collections so I installed K4PC version 1.8 on my netbook to play around with it. I created some Collections then went into the Add Other Device Collections menu on my K4 and my netbook is listed as a device from which I can import Collections to my K4. That means we can now create Collections on a PC via K4PC and then import them into a K3 or a K4! Perhaps this has been around awhile and I never knew it. But it certainly makes managing Collections on a Kindle much easier.

I've been using 1.7.0 because 1.7.1 had a bug in it that made it crash on large archives but it's fixed in the new version. So far 1.8.0 hasn't crashed on me which makes me happy. I use K4PC to check out samples and for quick referencing.

What's a bit strange though is that collections weren't imported in full - just like K4PC saw a difference between personal document on Kindle and on PC... |

It's possible unless the Pdocs files come from the Kindle device itself that the K4PC sees them as different files. Just tested it and it works! The pdocs have to be the exact copy of the file on the Kindle for K4PC to see them as the same book. Last edited by Blossom; 10-09-2011 at 06:35 PM. |
