Thank you all for your nice comments.
When I was a child I used to have a lot of middle ear infections. I grew out of it, with the help of homoeopathy. Betty and Stichawl: I'm sorry to hear about your problems. I take great care when it comes to my ears. Although I have been using walkmans, minidisc-players, discmans and mp3 players a lot over the years I never have the volume up high. When someone wants to listen to something on my music player they always complain that the volume is too low. My right ear has been sensitive since I was 17 when someone threw something against my ear it bruised my ear canal severely. When I'm very tired or when I've been in a noisy environment I get tinnitus in that ear. It's still there atm but, probably because my ear isn't blocked any more, not so loud as before it was cleaned out. I'm very happy that I can hear properly now, I can deal with the pain and in the day time the tinnitus wasn't very bad, but I've discovered that many of our customers mumble and I couldn't hear them properly which was very frustrating. Now I'm hoping the tinnitus and pain will also go away quickly. |

Why trap them? Why not just keep the away?
A line of ordinary mothballs around the edge of the attic (or around the crawl space under the house) will repel all the little critters... Stitchawl Last edited by Stitchawl; 10-10-2011 at 04:10 AM. |

OK I give in, what's a soffit?
Do you think mothballs would work for possums in Oz? They destroy our wisteria and we've had no flowers or shade for the last two years It's illegal to kill or trap and remove them as they are supposedly endangered. Last edited by amward; 10-10-2011 at 07:15 AM. |

The filler boards that face the ground between the roof and the house.
The roof extends past the house walls, and the soffit decoratively fills in the the area from the edge of the roof to the wall of the house. The space above the soffit is a VERY attractive nesting place for a lot of small critters. Quote:
For $3 worth of mothballs, wouldn't it be worth a try? I doubt Australian possums have different likes and dislikes from American possums. The mothball trick turned a regularly returning family of skunks from nesting under my house, and kept my attic free from squirrels for many years while my neighbors all had problems with them. (The neighbors didn't believe that the mothballs could work...) Stitchawl |

Mothballs also work great with mice, although I have found that they dislike cinnamon scented incense, too (which stinks a lot less than mothball imho).
