well, since we're telling jokes, all that talk about fish in the other thread reminded me of one of my favorite jokes. it's in french, but you can just ask VR to translate it.

Q : quelle est la différence entre un bocal et une boîte de conserves ?

A : dans la boîte, les petits pois sont verts, mais dans le bocal les poissons rouges.

ha haha hahaha !!! wow it's a lot easier to tell that joke in writing. when i have to say it i'm usually laughing tooo hard to say the answer.

I don't get it, ZP. I think you're starting to fall down a bit. Not that I understand French particularly well, mind you. But what's so funny about the difference between quails entering a local conservative bar? I don't really get the answer. Something about dancing a little, some corn, and red chicks (Red chicks?) - again at the bar. Is that supposed to be funny? Maybe I should go see what's going down at the German forum. I'll report back here later.

Nicely done! My French isn't particularly fluent. It's the old, "learned it in school, then years later spent time in Montreal" variety. So I'm struggling with the translation too.

I think it asks what the difference is between a box (bowl?) and a jar of canned vegetables. And the answer is that in the jar the peas are green, but in the bowl the fish are gold.

I give up. Just smile and nod politely. There's no accounting for humor in a people who call toes "foot fingers".
