Thanks for all the encouragements, Stitchawl, aceflor and L&G, I think I delivered my part of speech pretty well (that was what my friends said, too) but (why is there always a "but"??) the prof didn't agree with our pov and strongly objected to our outline. Well... let's just say that we don't usually have a chance to speak to 200 people in 45 mins without being disagreed with Good opportunity to practice, though!

I was pretty confident on the content (and still am, no matter what the prof said). I was nervous about public speaking... The last time I stammered quite a bit, but today I was as cool as a cucumber!!

Geez, you had it easy! I thought Grad school would make my brains run out my ears. All my classes were late afternoon/evening, so I'd wake up at 7:30 to have breakfast with my girlfriend, she'd leave for her classes at 8:30 and I'd sit down to study/do homework. Mostly it was reading... hundreds of pages every day, and writing synopses.. I'd stop when it was time to ride to class, attend classes, then come home and do more work. We would both stop at 11:30 and watch a Star Trek rerun, then go to bed, only to repeat it all the next day. Saturday and most Sundays were the same. Once in a while we'd go out to dinner on a Saturday night, and even more rarely, take a Sunday motorcycle ride. I did this 11 months a year for three years, (it was for two simultaneous degrees) just for my Master's. We will NOT discuss what I went through for a Doctorate...

Bar? I didn't even SEE the inside of a bar, movie theater, or club during those years.

Good show! Public speaking is usually the difficult part for most folks. I had one colleague at school who used to get physically sick to his stomach before the first day of the new school year... EVERY YEAR! He was so nervous about standing up in front of a lecture hall that he'd throw up right before the bell!

Congratulations on doing well with your speech! I hated speaking in public in college, too. I had a traumatic experience in my Public Speaking class. I was taking my classes in the evenings after work, so normally I would leave work and drive downtown, find a place to park my car, then grab some fast food or something for supper and get ready for class. On the night I was scheduled to be videotaped giving a speech that I had worked weeks on, I walked over to McDonald's ahead of time and ordered a Filet-o-Fish sandwich. It seemed to have too much tartar sauce on it, so I took the top of the bun off to scrape some of it off -- and dropped it right on my chest, sauce side down, dead center. I had absolutely no time to do anything about it, so I gave my speech -- on tape -- with a huge grease spot in the middle of my shirt. I was horrified then, but it's funny now.

My wife's neck is very sore and most likely needs surgery. Pain killers have already hurt her stomach so she can't use them any more. Our doctor said get into the Tequila, a great pain killer. So Tequila it is and . . . . just peeking . . . . she's asleep.
