drool! I'm quite excited to hear this. A year ago I went for Opus with Vizplex as I didn't want sipix screen. That was a deal breaker back then. But I think it will be pricy, Orizon still is. And not a sign of a new 5 incher... they will be scrapped altogether...

If it's lighter than the Orizon I'd be interested. I really like the Orizon page-turn ring, no clicking and very smooth.

You are both right according to the largest French dictionary (Le Grand Robert). The first meaning, though, is a knife to cut paper which doubles as a bookmark. It is also a removable book cover...and a warm jacket for women to wear when reading in bed.

ahh thank you. liseuse (from some googling) seems to come from the male "liseuer" which meant "reader" and came to be used to describe many things used by the reader. the dust cover, the "bed jacket", the desk, the light eventually.
i was watching an episode of the woodwrights shop on PBS this afternoon and he was creating a wonderful book stand(possibly a liseuse) originally crafted by the great French woodworker Andre Roubo ![]() Roubo's masterwork is being translated finally http://lostartpress.wordpress.com/20...t-du-menusier/ Last edited by Dulin's Books; 10-09-2011 at 12:15 AM. |

I wonder if the release of the Kindle Touch has upset their calculations? The Kindle Touch is also a 6" eInk reader with touchscreen and wifi, and costs $139 which translates to €127/£114, judging by the price of the plain Kindle, since the Kindle touch isn't yet on sale in France or UK. Now, the Odyssey has this much faster screen, which might well be something I'd be willing to pay more for, to avoid the 1/2 to 1/4 second page turning delay. But how much more? I note that the Orizon is now €140/£140. The Odyssey is obviously going to be more expensive. I might be tempted at £150. It's just possible I might be persuaded to £175. But I can't see paying more than that. Especially when the base Kindle is only £89. Last edited by pdurrant; 10-11-2011 at 04:53 AM. |

Well, there is one point I'm impatient to see the odyssey at work : pdf reading.
And having a decent processor will help too. Guess the downside will be battery life. |

I must say I'm VERY interested. Let's see, fast enhanced e-ink and provided they keep the nested folders, multiple language support, availability to load your own fonts, 12 different font sizes PLUS wifi, touch screen AND side buttons - what else could I possibly want (with calibre on the side)? I will not be able to resist this. It seems to have everything I wanted in an ereader.
In Bookeen blog they said Odyssey is now in production (answer to somebody's comment) |
