I disagree. Somewhere, in a certain company, people are being paid to develop software and erase the bugs that inevitably appear in the process.
This thread, created by people in their own private free time (I assume), is helping them, at no cost.
Going through this entire thread to catalogue all the bugs and requests (which has to be done only once, from then on you can work progressively) takes maybe one hour. Too much for my free time, not too much for someone being paid to read it all and make a list.
Also, requests appearing several times constitutes a basic form of a poll, which is actually helpful.

TL;DR at it's finest.
I viewed this thread as "everyone posts what they want", and the features with the most requests get implemented.

I like to use the search feature to see how many people have already said what I want (and sometimes it depends on the search terms one uses whether they'll find what they are looking for), but yes, also adding my own voice or "vote" to the count for said feature, is a handy thing for both developers and customers alike. It's handy to have it all in one thread, too.

I am really liking the latest firmware update. Thank you so much for what you added, especially the "finished" label!

But now I have a new issue... if you take a book off or add a book onto the shortlist, your screen refreshes to the first page of the list instead of your current page. I tested it last night and it happens both when you're in the shortlist screen and when you're in the overall library screen. It's not a big deal if you only have a list that is one or two pages, but when you are in your main library screen and were on page 17 of 27, it is irritating to be jumped back to page 1.

The only positive in this is that you CAN go BACKWARDS from Page 1 (it will go to page 27) and at least save yourself 7 pages of turning

Could the search-within-document be added to the list of options that appears when you highlight a word?

Some more ideas :
* When calling the TOC, the current chapter should come first (and not the first).
* In the toc, i would like to see the page start of each chapter.
* french dictionnary ......

Hello, new here. I've had a Touch for several month and each new upgrade seems to fix some issues. Still a few glitches though.

I would really like to see a clock display somewhere on the screen. The Touch has a built in clock so it shouldn't be too hard to add a display, perhaps on the bottom in a corner? It sure would be handy.

I think the issue is you don't want the decrease in battery life that continually updating the eInk screen for the time would incur.

You're correct, a display of the time that was updated in real-time would be a drain on the battery. However there are other ways to do it that would have no affect on the battery life. You could have the time sitting in the corner and only update it when the page is turned. Or you could have the time appear in the menu that appears when you tap the center of the screen.

I agree this would be a good solution.

Both excellent suggestions for no battery drain clock display. The clock itself does run all the time so there is a very small drain associated with that anyway. I hope they look into this. I often take my Kobo when i am waiting for my daughters' music lessons to be over and sometimes lose track of time. A clock would be display would be great!! LOL

I got a Touch shipping with 1.9.5 and upgraded straight to 1.9.11. As I'm reading a lot of english books and me not being a native speaker, I use the dictionary/translate feature a lot. So here are my suggestions for new features, most/all of them were already mentioned, but I guess the frequency of request is considered by the devs as well:

- When marking a word, the touchscreen seems to be "off" a little bit, i.e. I need to tap slightly above the word I want to mark. Please look into that.

- When I try to mark a word and miss, allow to tap again and mark another word to correct. Maybe limit the words being selectable to adjacent words only, thus taping the screen by accident (and not next to the temporarily marked word) wouldn't trigger another action. Now I need to tap close on the bottom on the screen and try to select again (and maybe mark the wrong word again).

Example:
a = word
X = selectable words (to correct the marked word)
M = marked word

a a a a a a
a X X X a a
a X M X a a
a X X X a a
a a a a a a

- Instead of a pop-up window to select either the dictionary or the translation, put two icons in the lower left corner, thus the user saves a tap.

- Sometimes the dictionary entry is not useful, or the translate function doesn't yield a hit (even after editing the search term). Usually chances for a hit are better when using the dictionary. So I found myself using the dictionary after the translate function quite often (or, rarely, vice versa). ATM I need to close either, be taken back to the book, select the word again, tap to get the pop-up, select the other option and hope I get a result. It would be easier if the dictionary and the translate window would have an option to "switch" to the other function, while keeping the marked word in the clipboard. Maybe an icon next to the arrow on the upper left hand side leading to the edit function would be sufficient. Or put in a drop down for the title in the middle, like used for switching between sorting for authors or book titles.

- Please allow for sorting books in series and anthologies. Especially readers with a knack for science fiction and/or fantasy will love it!

- Put a clock somewhere on the homescreen, maybe even put one in the middle of the bottom row whenever an option menue is opened.

- Sometimes (two times while reading a book of 800 pages) the touch screen freezes. So I have to power down the reader and power up again. Thankfully the position in the book is retained. So improving stability (I know, that is very, hm, unspecific) is always welcome!

Now readers might get that the impression I'm rather not satisfied with the Kobo, but I have to disagree strongly. I like it a lot, but there is always room for improvements. If I wouldn't be satisfied, I'd just return it and don't bother to write a longer posting with feedbacks. So please keep up the good work!
