Oh, for anyone interested, there is also A Lewis Carroll Omnibus here at MobileRead (which I didn't know at the time of purchase). It has Alice in Wonderland, Through the Looking Glass and 3 or 4 other stories. | |

Just don't let "The Island of Doctor Moreau" put you off him, to my tastes this is about the worst of his books (I guess my trouble with it could be because of the various appalling movie versions that stick in my mind as I read it).

I am, at present, howling my way through Bill Bryson's, I'm a Stranger Here Myself. Every time I pick one up I am reminded of why he is one of my all time most beloved writers. Also read, based on some recommendations from this forum, Sandman Slim by Richard Kadrey. It was an odd book but I found myself quite enjoying it. Heading into the 2nd one of the series. |

I've finished and posted a review of The Power of Six. It's the sequel to I am Number Four (both a mediocre movie and book). I was surprised with how much I actually enjoyed The Power of Six. It's better than I am Number Four and actually had some interesting plot twists this time round.

Currently reading the steampunk thriller The Burning Sky by Joseph Robert Lewis So far it's not catching my interest. The genre doesn't seem to appeal to me very much. |

^I think I was fortunate not to have watched any movies of the book prior to reading.

Read 40 pages and stopped. It wasn't at all what I expected. Polytheistic gods and inconsistent science. Time for a change-up. Landscape With Dead Dons by Robert Robinson an English journalist/broadcaster who recently passed away. Written in 1956. Last edited by Fbone; 10-07-2011 at 06:48 PM. |

Just finished William Peter Blatty's The Excorcist http://www.amazon.com/Exorcist-40th-...7910061&sr=1-1 ...I finished in 2 days, that's a record for me. It was my first time reading it and it will definitely become a book I read every October. Very scary. Now reading Anne Frasier's Play Dead http://www.amazon.com/Play-Dead-eboo...7910029&sr=1-1 |
