I've enjoyed each book immensely from him and it'll be interesting to see where this one goes.
I liked Lisey's Story. It didn't feel like King to me, though, if that makes sense. Maybe it wasn't long enough.

Fortunately, I don't thinks he's looking to his detractors for career advice, because I'd be happy if he lived and wrote forever. Since I can't have that, I can only hope that there is a "release after my death" vault somewhere so that I'll have new King material for the rest of my life.

I'm excited about this news. I'm planning a re-read of The Shining, and now I'm even more motivated to do so. I read it many, many years ago, and unfortunately his vision was replaced in my head by the film so I've waited this long to get a fresh perspective.

In the last few years I've re-read It and The Stand (Uncut). I've got several others on the re-read list, and a few that I'll be reading for the first time. Right now I'm reading Full Dark, and I agree that it's some of his best work. I'm on the last story now. Next up is Under the Dome. I'm an unapologetic King fan, definitely.

When I saw him speak in Fairfax, VA recently, one question was does he have and books he's started and hasn't finished. He said yes, probably about 40. So maybe after his death someone will publish them

Soul-sucking psychic "pirates" as opposed to the classic blood-sucking (and sometimes sparkly) neck-biters.

That's a little more relieving to hear, at least. Always been a fan of King, and have hoped for some kind of addition to The Shining. I've been to the Stanley Hotel and had a blast. Made reading the book a bit more exciting.

I'll tell you what I've heard... with the caveat that I have no idea about the veracity/reliability of the source. Whatsoever. It is what it is—which is strictly rumor at this point.

Quote:
What I've heard about Dr. Sleep is that it's supposed to pick up with Danny when he's in his late-30s to early 40s. He now works at a hospice where he uses his powers to ease people's passing to the other side. But he falls afoul of some sort of soul-sucking "psychic vampires", as was described above. They're supposed to be led by some sort of woman named "Rose the Hat", and all have pirate-sounding names as they're kind of like "soul pirates" or something.

That's what I heard anyhow. King's supposedly working on this novel because he's interested in "finding out what happened to Danny after The Shining" and is going to write the novel to find out for himself (love how he phrases things like that).
