They might know it. That doesn't mean they made a wise decision. I am sure they are as blind as the rest of us about what B&N has planned. One thing is for sure, B&N has been a step ahead of Amazon in terms of technology for awhile. The Fire is catchup.

According to the information released, B&N has plans for two tablets this year. They were priced at $249 for the Nook Color upgrade and then $349 for its brother. With a 10 inch tablet at $349 this year, they may just leap frog Amazon. If the rumors about the Nook Color 2 having a hybrid LCD, color eink screen are true, then they may really make the Fire look inadequate.

My wife was the same. Then she wanted one after I got one. This was in the 3G days. Now she has the iPhone 4 & can't live without it. I have the iPhone 3GS & have been waiting to upgrade till I hear what they have to say tomorrow.

And exactly how reliable to do think that is?
On a scale of 1-5, about minus 2.3.

There's been a big row between Amazon and California recently. California passed a law that internet companies that sold to CA residents had to collect CA sales tax. Apparently Amazon hasn't been doing that... or doesn't want to.

The whole internet sales tax thing is quite a quagmire.

Make it three. I have no little interest in the iPhone. I have enough issues with the touchscreen on my LG phone and the iPad (although the iPad is the best touchscreen I've had). I've had one TS phone without buttons and don't plan to ever make that mistake again... if I have a choice.

Neither Hubby nor I were interested in upgrading to the 4. I don't know how he feels about the 5 and I havn't looked up any info on it, so I do not have an opinion as yet.

Most of the states collect sales tax. I think there are two without sale tax. There is also local sales tax which differs from city to city.

All together, our sales taxes are a great deal less then the VAT paid across Europe.

Yup and there is no way for California to enforce that. As long as Amazon does not have a brick and mortar store in California then it does not have to collect the sales tax. I read somewhere that Amazon and California found some common ground but I have no idea what it is.

For te record, I cannot multi quote at work. No idea why and I am not about to ask my IT guys for help...

I don't see a 10 inch NC as all that exciting. Then it is a really large e-reader that you have to hack to make it into a tablet. $350 makes me shrug my shoulders and go find a full fledge tablet that I don't have to hack for a bit more.

As someone looking to buy a tablet some time soon, BN is not even on my radar. I want a 10 inch tablet. Not a 10 inch device that I have to hack.

The Kindle Fire is not on my radar. I want a 10 inch screen and I want something that I don't have to hack to pick up the apps that I want. A 10 inch Fire probably would not interest me.

There are Archos devices out there that do more for $350, I would buy that before a NC or Fire in 10 inch form.
