reading light suggestions - Page 2

I wonder where most people are when they need their own portable light source. Most of my reading is on public transit where there is usually sufficient lighting. Otherwise, I'm sitting somewhere indoors with lighting or walking in the daylight. I don't find myself in a position where I need a portable light source. One exception is when I'm reading in bed, and my desk lamp casts sufficient light to read from.

If I found that I needed a portable light, that Verso Arc light looks like something I might buy.

I've used the light in bed, and also, while flying.

It has also been used during a power failure at home.

I just used mine for a power outage too.

Yes I wondered about this too. When I used to read pbooks I never used a portable light. When I was a kid reading late into the night I could have used one though - I used a torch hidden under my sheets! But now that I am an adult and allowed to read as late as I want I just use a lamp.
I do have a clip on light for my ereader (I bought it because people here made me think I would need one) but on the rare occassion I have needed to use it (twice on a flight when my seat light didn't work) I didn't have it with me...

I use mine for reading in bed at night. With the small light on my book it doesn't keep my wife awake. Especially since I work shifts and I'm sometimes coming to bed at 3am.

Whoops. I meant to do a double quote, but did only one by mistake.

Anyway, ditto the comment about using the Verso Arc Light during a power outage; specifically, it was during Hurricane Irene. I had my readers and lights charged to capacity. That was my version of Hurricane preparedness.

How about in the car at night, so you don't disturb the driver's night vision by using the dome light? Or perhaps long road trips are more of a western Canadian thing. . .

I can't remember the last time we had a power outage. Hopefully I won't need one of these lights, but I may stop by a Chapters (or Best Buy) store today and pick one up, in case of emergencies. And, just because it looks so cool.
