You can post all the photos you want - it's still wrong . Duokan runs under Linux. End of story.

Given that you're not a Kindle owner, and I seriously doubt that you have any intention of buying one, why do you care?

If you don't believe it, here is some more photo evidence from Bing internet search engine this time, the previous ones were from Google internet search engine:

Feel free to post 1000 more pictures - I'm not going to change my opinion. You're merely illustrated the fact that there are a lot of people out there who don't know what the phrase "operating system" actually means.

Um ..... Am I the only one that is totally lost?

Who cares if it is a different operating system or not? (although Harry is correct, it isn't) What does that have to do with Amazon being a Monopoly (which they aren't)?

And what other answer could there possibly be then to buy a different product which suits your needs?

From the structure of your posts, I get the feeling that English is not your main language. I suspect you'd be better off with an ePub reader which would allow you to more easily purchase from other sources than Amazon.

Since when have we had to have a reason to have entirely pointless debates?

This is just plain wrong.

Installing something like Duokan on your Kindle will not give you any more choice.

It cannot read DRM protected ePub files which is really the only thing offered by anyone that is similar to Amazon's store.

Right now, a Kindle with unmodified software can read ebooks purchased from many different sites - as long as they are in PDF or Mobi format.

I have bought many books this way because they aren't offered on the Kindle Store.

Amazon does not have a monopoly:

-Of the e-reader market: there are several competing devices and vertically integrated stores (like the Nook)
-Of eBook sales for Kindle users: you can buy books from many sources in several different formats

Probably best read in a pharmaceutically enhanced state though and not on a Sunday morning. (At least for me).

Well, I think it does give you the ability to read Chinese characters on the Kindle, which is what it was designed for the way I understand it. Unless something has changed recently I don't think an un-altered Kindle has that ability.

It seems like a heck of a lot of work though to go through simply to be able to put a non-DRM'd ePub on a Kindle. Most of us here can manage that with just a couple of mouse clicks.

There is the general Linux operating system code base and there are specific Linux distributions (distros). Each / Both are called operating system.
