If you can compare or hold a Nook Color vs Galaxy Tab 7", probably you will understand better what I am talking about. Even the center of gravity is important; with similar weight , it will reduce wrist's strain of the heaviness sensation. |

I thought Nook's new color tablet was coming out by end of September 2011?
Any word on it. |

Yep, the NOOK feels heavier when compared to larger devices as well. It's too heavy for young children. They really need to shed some weight. Amazon touts their tablet as being comfortable to hold in one hand. That's not the case with the current NOOK.

As long as Amazon haven't overdone the weight reduction at the expense of battery life. A featherweight device with a poor battery life is not very useful.

Please don't be offended and don't answer if there is any problem at all, but I am technically curious because I work out a lot. I assume you are female, and I wonder what you weigh. Also can you do push ups, hands directly under your shoulder sockets, and rise full arm extension, body straight, slowly, and touch the floor on each dip, and if so how many times? Also data on pull ups and curls if you do them would be great. So many women just don't have upper body strength. You are at least in the upper 5 percent I would guess without looking anything up. |

weight = 135 pounds one hand push ups = 4-6 pull ups = 7-9 dumbbells = 25-30 pounds 8 reps I grew up in a rough neighborhood and was always fighting boys (bullies). The girls left me alone when they saw I wasn't into scratching and pulling hair. I had fighting skills but no strength, so I started working out with weights. It was really a means of self-preservation. |

Meh, it doesn't matter since I rarely use it anymore anyway, what with some new toys I've gone to an STR for reading (the new Kindle Touch could have been a competitor but no SD slot, no epub support, same price and no physical buttons make it less impressive); the NC will likely be up for sale in a day or two. Back on topic, I'm eager to see what BN comes up with. I prefer them to Amazon and I detest Apple products. Last edited by Grimm; 10-03-2011 at 01:21 AM. |

Two individual dumbells at the same time are better than the long bar holding the same total weight or even a bit more weight. This is because the body has to work harder to keep the individual dumbells under control. The muscles become stronger, and more muscles are affected. You will notice that it is easier to lift more total weight on a long bar than with two dumbells. Even better in some ways are the swinging weights, kettles, pins and the like that work the torso along with the arms and legs. Bands, and wall pulleys lend to strength in every direction. Pilates, medicine balls all help I am not much for machines except for rowing machines and then treadmills, and bicycles mainly for endurance. I will pass by much on martial arts except to suggest you try to find a place that has the hanger and platform for a speed bag and learn to use it. There are different substitutes at sporting goods stores that sit on the floor. Sometimes people become slow because of their weight routine. Think strike and recoil, strike, strike, and recoil. Different angles, moving all the time. Keeping your feet moving is as important as anything else. Your opponent can't rely on where you are. Likewise go back to your childhood and bring back your jump rope. Great for the footwork. You have a sound background, you should have fun. And finally a word of caution. The mightiest sword is never drawn. Avoid fighting. Like the kids used to say "Sticks and stones can break my bones, but words can never harm me." Don't be afraid to run or yell or use your spray. Only fight when there is nothing else and then yell loud while you are doing it. |

The new Nook Color 2 was due out end of September 2011.
The Amazon Kindle lineup for 2011 was announced and most likely the Nook people decided to go back to the drawing board since they now could see their competition clearly, and make no mistake about it, the competition is formidable, but even so certain little chinks in the Amazon armor showed up rather quickly. The cries of anguish about the Kindle Fire, about the page turn buttons, about on board storage, about memory card storage have been heard now over and over again, loud and clearly.. So what is the latest on the Nook? Is there a new date for the new Nook? Will it take care to avoid all the complaints that the Kindle Fire has brought about. Will it have page buttons without going to the screen. The Nook people have a chance to "one up" on Amazon. They need to take it. I have abandoned thoughts about getting a new Kindle Fire, and have set my sights on either a Lenovo A1, or a Galaxy wifi 5.0 player which is now on Amazon. I got a notice in the mail this morning from my friend Amazon that the Galaxy's price had dropped about $4. Still neither of those items are shipping yet, and I would like to see how the Nook stacks up as a tablet. |
