				Another New Sony? PRS-G1?

A friend in Japan sent me this link this morning: http://av.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/n...29_479596.html My Japanese is very rough but it appears to be breaking news about another Sony model to be sold alongside the PRS-T1, called the PRS-G1. It looks like it's slated for November sale and has a higher price than the T1 -- 26,000 yen to the T1's 20,000. Two colors, SD slot. I'm not entirely clear on what makes it different from the T1 at this point, but I'll keep working at it. Perhaps someone who is fluent in Japanese can help? Edit: In retrospect, perhaps I should have posted this in News? Apologies. Edit the Second: Sony Japan's product page for the PRS-G1: http://www.sony.jp/reader/products/PRS-G1/ Last edited by Skibble; 09-29-2011 at 07:03 AM. |

So just added 3G functionality then? I wonder if they are going to charge a contract for it? Perhaps this will be very region-specific. Shame it's not a premium matte bezel edition. I'd pay a small extra for that. |

Shame it's not a premium 7" screen device.

Looks like it's just the T1 with added 3G connectivity. No idea why they need the two models, I would have thought the better option would have been to have had the G1 and one with no Wi-Fi or 3G at a really competitive price. |

I just wonder will the 3G model ever make it to the US. That could have been the reason for the two model numbers.

My 950 has 3G. Big deal. It only let's me go to the Sony Store. It's not like Amazon 3G.

At any rate, I guess we'll have to wait until they are shipping for someone to confirm whether one can still browse the web via 3g on a touchscreen Kindle. | |||

Yep. Might be a shocker for those used to getting 3G web browsing on the keyboard version when they upgrade to touch and find it is gone. Of course, that's not confirmed as yet, but the changed wording spoke volumes to me.
