If they come out with a 10-inch tablet I might be interested. But I'm happy with my K3 for reading.

I'm not interested in the touch. If the fire was available in the UK i'd buy that to use as a tablet and for reading academic journals and text books, but I'm sticky to my K3 with keyboard for reading novels.

I said I was going to get the Kindle Fire, but then....there was the Nook Color, which is oh so rootable, on sale for $149, so cheaper than the Fire. I bought it instead. Guess I won't be getting a new Kindle anytime soon!

For some reason I've never been able to get it through my head the Kindles are NOT touch screen. I got a K1 when they first came out, then a DX, and now I have a K3. I LOVE my K3, but I STILL reach up and try to touch a menu item about once a week. Using the Kindle Reader on my iPad would be the best all-around UI experience, if only it were e-ink. When I get immersed in the reading matieral, the part of my brain that keeps track of which doo-dad I'm using kind of goes on leave.

I just put my chip down on a $99.00 Touch, so maybe now, I won't feel so dumb for trying to poke and swipe on the Kindle screen. Then again, I wouldn't bet against me squeezing the edge of the bezel trying to turn pages.

CAN'T WAIT!

For myself, no. I'm perfectly happy with my K3. However, I had already been considering getting one for my 14 year old son. After this week's announcement, I pre-ordered the $99 Touch for him. He's not sure how he'll feel about it, so I told him if he decides within 30 days that he doesn't like it, we'll return it for the keyboard model. The wifi only with ads is the same price for both of them. He plays word games on mine and wants a keyboard (whether virtual or physical) so the $79 model was out.

Now I just have to put up with sharing my Kindle with him until the day before Thanksgiving.

I preordered a Kindle Touch with Special Offers. This is my first e-reader. I am an avid reader and it has taken me a while to convince myself I am ready to migrate away from physical books. I hope I'm not disappointed.

The Touch has everything I have been looking for in an e-reader now that library lending is supported on Kindles. Looking forward to the portability and having my reference library of PDFs and Word documents available to me at the touch of a button.

Still surprised though to see some physical books priced less than e-book versions on Amazon. Money talks so I'm not sure my physical book buying days are over.

My husband and daughter were sharing a k3, so I had the opportunity to get the $79 K4 and give my K3 to my husband. But I also ordered a Fire. I have a phone with 3/4G, so that is not an issue for me. Just want a larger screen for watching free movies as an Amazon Prime member.
