Yes, the new Sarah Hoyt bundle was an unexpected bonus - I didn't know it was coming. And I'd already bought the August Webscription primarily to get the Liaden book. But before that, I slipped badly with the early Kate Shugak books. The first one was free, but then I was hooked again. Just finishing up #8. But the reissue of #9 is not out yet, so it's back to my TBR list and NO MORE purchases!

Help! I do pretty well at resisting ebook purchases, but I'm a sucker for cheap dtb. I got through the Borders retail store closing without giving in, but the headquarters are nearby, and there are thousands of books at $1 for a soft cover and $2 for hard cover.

I succumbed when I saw the latest Fictionwise discount. But, I saved 18 dollar ( more, considering that Omnilit had one of the books for 6 dollar vs. 3 dollar at Fictionwise). And I turned off the CC card again. Heh.

Read them, and gift them to the library? Unless they have sent someone to bargain hunt too.

I want to say that I have not purchased a book since I started with this thread. Boy, I was tempted at times!! I have started reading books on my TBR list and finishing up the dtb that I have.

I will give myself 1 more month and then...!!!

Hi, my names is JB and I am a electronic book buying adict as well as a reading adict, I have bought approximatly sixty books since January 1, 2011 and I have read nearly all of them. I am a sucker for Amazon's free and low cost books, by that I mean books priced under $3 each and I have given up on all books over $8 each. Although I have bought those high priced books in the past sicne I picked up an Aluratek Libra Pro, in my pre-kindle days I have not bought any of those high priced books ever.

Welcome both. I'm glad the thread has helped. I've still bought more ebooks this year than I've read or discarded, but not by much. I think if I hadn't started this thread I'd much, much, further behind.

i pretty much read a book a day but i don't feel like i'm making any headway lol. i've been putting aside longer stuff and reading 2 shorter books instead. i have foresaken all other hobbies in order to read.

i keep adding to my wishlist though, its now filled with space operas and new installments of various series.

it truly is an addiction, its so easy to click the 1-click or add to cart button and bam, its on your device. that feeling of immediate gratification is a killer. i really only read indie stuff so financially its not a burden but my brain fails to realize that theres 400 pages that come with that 99 cents lol. and its gotta get read because i hate wasting money.

thats just the ebooks. my wishlist (and soon b-day and xmas list) is filled with hard copies. not counting all those that i still need to read and those that come from my book club every 2 months. i'm drowning in books but they're all i want!

I felt pretty superior about all my free and bargain books (apart from a few must-haves of course!) until I did a spreadsheet listing them all. £92 spent on Kindle books since I got it for my birthday (foreign language dictionaries bumped up the total).
I was slightly appeased when I did a Count divided by Total Cost and found I'd spent an average of less than 60p per book since so many are free. It's certainly more than I envisioned spending when I thought about getting a Kindle; I thought I'd just be using it to read books from Project Gutenberg. Am I ready to go for Therapy and a 10 Step Program yet? I'll stop tomorrow, yes, tomorrow.....maybe....

Only 60? I can say that I have downloaded a lot more than 60 books... *counts* 300 books so far. Most of them bargains and free books, plus some were downloaded last year, but I never got around to add them to Calibre..

^But they do count in the cluttering up one's life subject. I've removed quite a few titles from my e-reader that I'm probably not going to read. I feel better already.

I'm proud to announce that I've purchased only ONE book since the last time I posted about purchasing, and it was the novel of a good friend so I kind of HAD to. :-D

OK, I admit it. I've bought three more ebooks. I just really wanted them. I know, I know, I have just over 400 ebooks waiting to be read. Sigh. 405 now. And that makes 201 ebooks bought this year...
