I'm not able to do anything with 3.1 on my Kindle, although I am in the UK (not sure if that makes a difference).

I found this information out on a blog:

Yes, actually it is NOT the Amazon Cloud Driver storage I thought it was, but a separate 5Gb for the Kindles associated with your account.

I have verified that documents sent to my K3 show up in my Library ('Personal Documents') at MYK. At that point, it seems, you should be able to push it to any of your registered Kindles, but at present, while the 'Deliver to..' list had all of mine listed, the only one that was enabled was the one corresponding to (I think) the Kindle Fire I pre-ordered. It seems you should be able to pull it from Archived Items as well, but it's not showing up in there. If I delete it from my K3, it is just gone, and there's no way to send it again even though it is still listed in MYK. The highlights I made may be synced for all I know but it's not possible to verify it.

So, not very useful, yet. Probably it's not all hooked up.But I'm looking forward to using it when it is. I've been experimenting with things like Dropbox and calibre server but this really has the integration I would like to have.

Apparently it's just a very fragmented way of setting everything up... The FAQ already tells people to upgrade to 3.3 in case Personal Documents are not downloadable... Only thing missing is the actual download... I contacted them, let's see what they will say...

I had to setup wifi up for the new documents to download. I did have to transfer the ebook to the Miui then ask it to sync. I tested a book and it did sync with the Miui. This is very nice, I have a lot of books form places before Kindle and now they sync. I can't seem to get book to sync with iPad.

I don't know what the Miui is. A tablet? But syncing via Whispernet to iPads and iPhones has periodically been broken in the past. I can't remember the specifics, but we had to jump through hoops to get it to work with sideloaded books when other platforms worked fine. So it might just be another iOS issue.

This is what they replied:

Hello,

I'm sorry to hear about the inconvenience you have experienced in this case.

The most recent version of Kindle software (3.3) is available via a Wi-Fi connection. To receive the update, please turn your wireless on and connect to an available Wi-Fi network. From the Home screen, press Menu and select "Sync and Check for Items."

For more information on how to connect to a Wi-Fi network see our guide here:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/custom...5540#setupwifi

If you do not have a Wi-Fi connection at your place the you can download the latest Kindle software update to your computer and transfer it to your Kindle via USB. Here's how:

1. Visit the link below to download the latest software update file directly to your computer:

www.amazon.com/kindlesoftwareupdates

2. Turn your Kindle on and connect it to your computer using the USB cable.

3. Drag and drop the new update file from your computer to the Kindle drive. (The Kindle's root directory contains a number of folders--such as "documents," and "music"--and is typically denoted by a "device" icon).

4. Check your file browser's file transfer progress bar to ensure that file transfer to your Kindle is complete before disconnecting. After the file has transferred successfully, eject the Kindle to safely disconnect Kindle from your computer.

5. Start the software update: Go to your Kindle's Home screen, press the Menu key, and select "Settings." Press the Menu key again, and then select "Update Your Kindle." (This option will be grayed out if the most recent update has already been installed or if the file transfer was not successful.) Select "OK" when prompted if you want to perform an update. Your Kindle will restart twice during the update. After the first restart, you will see a message saying "Your Kindle is Updating."

6. Once the update is complete, your Kindle will automatically restart a second time. When you go to the Settings page, you should notice the new version of the software listed at the bottom of the Settings page.

If you're still having any trouble then please give us a call so we can try some real time troubleshooting
I replied and pointed out that the update is not available on the respective webpage nor is it obtainable via Wifi on my Kindle. Let's see what they will say...

I just tried this Personal Documents thing on my new kindle (firmware 4.01). Basically you email a file to yourself with the @kindle.com address. Then on your Kindle turn on wifi so it downloads. After that happens the thing you emailed shows up in your "manage your kindle" page. So if I delete it from the Kindle, it goes into the Archive where I can re-download anytime.

Basically personal documents work just like purchased Amazon books now. So if you download some free ebooks from Gutenberg for example, you can email them to your Kindle and have them show up on your cloud drive, to be available for Archiving and redownloading anytime.

Yes, but you still can't push to Kindle (from MYK) or pull (from Archived Items?) the Personal Documents yet. So it is not a usable feature right now. If you delete the document from Kindle, there's no way to get it back on there short of sending it via @kindle.com again (or USB)

I'm not 100% sure, but I think that Amazon.com/myk will only let you send something from the personal document archive if you have one of the following registered to your account:

-A Kindle Keyboard (with the 3.3 update)
-A "new" Kindle
-A Kindle Touch
-A Kindle Fire

Obviously the last two are unavailable at this time.

If you don't have one of these devices on your account then the only option you get is to delete the item.

I have both a KT and KF on preorder, but it only lets me pick one of them (not sure which is which). But I can select any device for the rest of my library. And it doesn't let me pick my K3, which is where the content was sent originally. I'd rather it let me send to any device even if that device didn't support sync of personal content. They can still read the content.

Assuming the 3.3 update has to do with this, I still haven't got that update on my K3.

Yeah that's how it should work. I have firmware 3.2 and it's not working for me.
