I *guess* the main difference is the touch functionality plus multi language support (the smallest Kindle now is available in Germany with German menus, but there were other languages mentioned too)

when I look at the my kindle page at amazon, it now seems possible to save your own documents to the cloud and sync notes and furthest page read between devices. also you should be able to download one of those documents to an other device from the cloud.

i can get the documents into the cloud (by sending them to my kindle mail adress), but i can't get those documents to sync or download them again to the device after deleting them. maybe this will be possible with the new firmware? (i'm still at 3.1, maybe someone with this 3.3 can test it?) |

That is also showing up on Amazon.co.uk's Manage Your Kindle Page (and Amazon.de), although there isn't an option to manually send a personal document to a device.

Wow, I've been waiting for them to connect Amazon Cloud Drive to Kindle since they launched it. Looks like it is finally happening! I assume you can upload documents directly. Yes, it would make sense that this is part of 3.3 update, and presumably to be available on the new Kindle devices. But I haven't gotten the update yet, to be able to check it out.

I have uploaded several files to my personal documents via my kindle mail adress, but i can't see these files when i go to my amazon clouddrive. for now at least upload via mail seems to be the only choice. (makes sense, since those docs would have to be converted into mobi/azw format and they would get some kind of asin number (for sync))

Is it too much to hope 3.3 supports X ray? Anyone cares to buy something and see if any unusual files get downloaded to the documents folder?

I agree, but I doubt they will include the X-Ray feature in the FW for K3s. They purposely left this feature out of the new non-touch model apparently because X-Ray is designed for a touchscreen interface.

Agreed. I don't expect to see x-ray added to the Kindle Keyboard aka K3.

ok so the library thing here was a bust (in canada)... I wasn't sure if it would work or not as sometimes they say us only but that also includes canada. but not it this case.

so i'll have to wait. hopefully not too long... as for the x-ray... I somehow think that this will not be available to the K3's that are already out. My opinion anyway. They have to make them different somehow to lure people to change from their current version of kindle... I think, had I had the choices available now... I would still have gone with the K3-wifi-3g... yep that's my story... no regret here lol |

In another thread I point out that the Dictionary popup window has been slightly improved in the new models. Long story short, the K3 has 2 lines of word-definition text in the Dictionary popup window whereas the new Kindle 4 (non-touch model) has 3 lines. This is a subtle but very welcomed improvement. Would someone who has gotten the FW 3.3 upgrade please check to see if perchance this improvement made it into the FW 3.3?

The new Touch Kindles have a completely different Dictionary popup interface, BTW. |

Amazon has posted information about this now: http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/custom...40#pdocarchive I'm not able to do anything with 3.1 on my Kindle, although I am in the UK (not sure if that makes a difference). I found this information out on a blog: http://ilmk.wordpress.com/2011/09/29...-the-in-cloud/ |

There's still just two lines on the dictionary popup on my 3.3. Sorry. I agree though, it would be an improvement to have even one more line.

Just the same here on my 3.1 (Canada) unit. Personal documents sent to my kindle are duly saved on my new cloud 5GB space! But after deleting them from the Kindle, they don't show up in the "archived" collection.
