I'm hoping they offer deals for all of the covers when they release these new models.

One of the current offers is 50% off a $20 Kindle power adapter and cable. Interesting timing, because it doesn't help those who buy the new models. This special offer must be claimed 29 Sep, and you can't claim it unless you own a KSO. It makes no sense to me, because current Kindles include the power adapter.

I think it's just a name change. Before these new models, it was known as Kindle. Now the new Kindle is the low end button model, so they needed a way to differentiate between the two. I'm pretty sure the keyboard model will get deleted once current inventory is depleted.

Depends on the person and the device doesn't it? My LCD device gets 0 hours and my eInk device gets 30 hours. So a decided advantage to eInk.

I'm glad that they have made the edges curved in these new designs, however, I wont be upgrading unless my Kindle stops working (or my mom wants one) because it's already pretty much perfect for me. Also, I'll only consider buying one if you can still put your own screensavers, fonts on it with a hack(s).

No, it doesn't work like that. Because you don't use "extra" juice if you don't page on e-ink devices. While your LCD device will always ask for "extra" juice as long as you have it turned on (because the screen will always ask for juice...)

that duration of the battery, I always take with a grain of salt, at least on the e-ink devices. Sometimes the battery of my Sony drains within 2 weeks (heavy reading) and sometimes it takes over a month (light reading).

The current Kindle with Special Offers doesn't rotate ads like that on the Home page and other Kindle device content pages. If the new ones do that, it is kind of annoying and more of a battery drain if the Kindle is just sitting on the Home page. The ads aren't in the actual book pages, though.

It COULD be just a way to show all the various ads rather than what really happens.

Honestly, without the rotation shown here, the banner at the bottom is almost invisible after you first notice it - kind of like the flash at page turns becomes invisible.

I'm guessing that's just a mockup. I doubt the new Kindles rotate the ads that quickly. There's hardly time to read them before the next one pops up.

Looks like its definitely the Sony then, A half arsed version of something is not for me Amazon.

Also, I note a different interface on the new touch versions. There are some aspects I like, like the expanded dictionary window, and some I don't appreciate, like the shopping cart button on the menu bar. Will the new interface be forced on existing Kindle 3 users via a firmware update? The blatant shopping cart button alone makes me want to stick with the current interface.
The Kindle Keyboard is the Kindle 3 just renamed.

The shopping cart icon is only shown when you are in the Kindle store not on the home screen. The home screen doesn't show book covers.

Amazon have said: "A single charge lasts up to one month with wireless off based upon a half-hour of daily reading time"

That is 15 hours of reading.

The special order kindles have ads that are on screen all the time? What crap. I'd rather pay an extra $30 and not get those ads - unless i read the above post wrong. I haven't read through all the posts in the thread.

A kindle with no keyboard is appealing and I don't want touch screen in an ereader. Fingerprints on the screen I'm reading on? No thanks. I'm curious though, is there any good or useful reason for a keyboard on the kindle?

The ads are only on the very bottom of the home screen, a small thin strip, and on the screensaver when the Kindle is not in use.

It is fully disclosed and not hidden in any way that this is the case. I'm not sure why you feel it is "crap". It sounds like for your the $30/$40 extra option would make you happy.
