unwanted page break
Converting to epub from html + css. Illustrated book for children, text pages must be on left, illustrations on right hand page so the spread makes sense. In a two-page spread, the pages should be even/odd as in 4/5. An extra page break messes up the sequence.
Viewing the epub in Adobe Digital Editions, one page with text only should display as page 3 but is displaying as page 3 and page 4. The extra page number appears at about the 2nd line of the second paragraph. Other pages of similar length do not show a break within. When using "HTML converter" to create a PDF from the html + CSS, there is no extra page break. The text code contains markers for emphasis<em>, I already stripped out codes for quote marks and em dash (—). The attached file contains extracts from the CSS code, the code for the page in question, and the page as seen in Sigil viewing the calibre-made epub. Suggestions? |

If you want fixed pages you need to use PDF or the Apple iBooks only fixed page layout for ePub. Every reader has a different size screen and every person can change the type size so you'll never be able to ensure the left and right hand pages will display as you want. That's the nature of the beast.
