I wonder if this marks the end of Barnes and Nobles Nook line. I do like the how the Nook Simple Touch looks and it's color better than the new Kindle's though. I think the kindle looks a little drab.

I can't see B&N folding that quickly or easily. I'm guessing there are enough differences to keep them in competition. Plus, there is brand recognition...My initial consideration in the Nook was becuase of my familiarity with B&N, and the fact that I could walk into one of their stores to buy one. Granted Amazon won out in the end, but it did have to "beat out" the Nook in more than one way to do so.

Yeah, there are no live page turns shown in the video on the product page, but the 'Faster Page Turns' blurb is there, just like on the Touch page. I wish they were more specific about the hardware specs.

Honestly, I think it's better to have predictable flashing then be "surprised" every six pages or so. |

Is that thing at the bottom of the KT the speaker (no more stereo?) or the home button?
I would've liked to see home, menu, back, and search buttons. As is, the most common ops besides page turning will take at least two taps, unless they have gestures. Of course I wanted a 7"er too. Oh well. But yeah it's going to be tough for anybody else to compete. Ads or no, the headline that comes out of this will be "amazon puts out $79 ereader and $199 tablet." Well played sir, well played. |

Regarding ads not beinging instrusive, please don't get your hopes up for the cheaper models unless you think something like this is not intrusive.

There are a few good free ones right here on the forum. There's two old Websters 1911, 1913, Wordnet 3.0 and one other I can't recall. Just do a search on Kindle Dictionary. They are large files so I only have one installed and use the default built in one on more modern books and old Webster on books like the old Regencies.

But isn't that just the "Home" page? That doesn't seem that bad. Its not in the middle of the book, which is where most people would find it intrusive. I mean how much time does one spend on the home page when not actively looking for a book?
