For me Touchscreen is a must. I find myself hitting my K3 screen because my Phone is Touchscreen and I much prefer it over that 5way button anyday. Another thing I like on the new Kindles is the Dictionary display. It sure has changed for the better.

That is good to hear. Did they expand it as well? Its so frustrating reading an older book with obsolete references and having no way to look them up right then and there.

As the Fire is running on an older version of Android, heavily modified by Amazon (fork), it would not surprise me if only a subset of the apps will be available for the fire. Well, that is what I was referring to in terms of 'artificial' restrictions. Of course it will be a subset, but if App Store is to be a successful alternative to Market, or even attractive to Fire users, they cannot arbitrarily reject apps, or prevent app developers from submitting apps that are compatible with the version of Android that Fire uses.

The new Kindles look nice, but I really would like to have some kind of keyboard on them. Kind of disheartening that they did away with them... But, I guess it was somewhat inevitable.

The existing Kindle 3 range is not being discontinued. They will continue to be available for those who like keyboards.

It doesn't say they did but you know you can switch your dictionary you buy from Amazon. You don't have to use the standard one. I have an old copy of Webster I got from here that works great for those old books like Heyer.

The difference in the dictionary is the window is now bigger and shows more text then having to always hit the arrow key to read more. There's a pic of it on the Kindle Touch's page.

Judging by the video on the product page, the turns are almost instantaneous. I just hope it's not a gimmick but an actual improvement. I'm still surprised they're not making a bigger deal of it though..

... and there will be other limitations in the apps. I don't know all of the hardware specs yet, so some of this I'm just guessing at. However, I think it may lack:
GPS, Camera(s), Magnetometers, Accellerometer, NFC, Proximity sensors (although the speculation earlier in this thread was that it might have a light sensor), Don't know about a microphone.

Anyway, the point is that app's that rely on these sensors would not work.

I see Amazon having to make a special icon that says "Kindle Fire Compatible" now. Otherwise they will be issuing alot of refunds on apps.

Oh! I didn't know. I mean I knew you could probably add one, but I did not know you could replace the default with a non-Amazon default.
