Just remember how much we all laughed when Apple named their tabled "iPad". Pun galore it was! Only now, it's Apple who's laughing I'm not worried about the name. I am looking forward to seeing how well it's supported by Amazon market. IMHO that's the biggest fail of Android tablets so far - no solid market support. |

Well now I understand Amazon's $200 price point for the tablet.

What's wrong with the name? Would you prefer a serial number that you can't remember, eg, sony prs-t1 or was it prs-505s-cew?

I find it hard to believe that name could make it to production without anyone involved speaking up about it.

I am a little confused. This was rumored to be a single core tablet. But now we hear that they it's a dual core 1.2 Ghz processor, and you know they won't skimp on the screen. I guess the 2.1 android base might be disappointing, but that's firmware that can be updated. I'll be surprised if they don't come in at 250 or less with Prime included. But this sounds pretty promising to me. Better than it did a week ago. Not sure why everyone is so negative on this |

If nothing else, they have a number of classic rock songs they could use to advertise it with. Jimi Hendrix, Arthur Brown, Kansas, The Doors, ELO, Johnny Cash (er, not quite rock), Jerry Lee Lewis, The Cult, etc My pick though would be The Mission off of Rush's Hold Your Fire album. Quote:

If Nintendo can get a best-selling console from a product pronounced "wee", then perhaps product names don't matter. I don't think that we can say anything really, from the specs - the important thing is what content they're delivering through it, and how that looks. |

I wonder what will happen with domain names. Are fire departments in danger of infringing on trademarks or are we going to see calendars of firemen holding the new Fire? It should be introduced Johnny Storm (from the Fantastic 4) holding a kindle, saying "flame on", and turning it into Fire. (we need some flame emoticons) Also, as there have no ipad killers yet, probably because of the name, we can look forward to fire killers, or hydrants. | |

Surely, "wildfire" would have been better than "fire".
