@lgvenable: Yep, use the dxg install .bin from the -k2 package, and then the linkfonts folder from the -k3 package.

I'm trying to apply the jailbreak to my new kindle with os version 3.2.1. I copied the file to the root directory (update_jailbreak_0.9.N_k3g-3.2.1_install.bin), and start the update. But it's stuck on the update page without any progress in the bar, more than 20 minutes has passed since I started the update. What should I do?
(sorry my poor english, It's not my native language) |

@Ribosoma: Looks like a crash, that shouldn't happen. It might indicate a hardware or software defect. That's probably not good.
In case it was just a hiccup, try a hard reboot, and try again. The jailbreak install process is pretty simple in itself, so your Kindle shouldn't be left in an inconsistent state, and it might even have crashed before the start of the process. |

I have a Mac running OS X 10.6.8 and a Kindle 3 Wifi. I tried to install the jailbreak so I could add screensavers, but after restarting the kindle, it will no longer mount on my desktop. Help! What do I do? I tried it in every USB outlet on the computer and it still won't mount; since this is my only computer, how can I uninstall the jailbreak?

@chocolateal: Probably completely unrelated, the jailbreak install doesn't do a thing with the Kindle's USB handling. Restart both your Kindle and your computer, and try again. Might also want to try another USB cord, in case it just died at the wrong time.
For the record, does the Kindle even switch the screen to one of the 'Plugged to computer' image? |

The Kindle didn't even switch the screen...however, I left it plugged in charging for about 3 hours and then suddenly it registered and showed up! Thank you. It's showing now quickly again now that I rebooted my computer.

I need some help. I'm trying to load the Museo Slab 125% fonts on the Kindle 3 3G that I bought for my grandfather who has poor macular deneration. I got the jailbreak to load correctly and the initial font hack, however when I try and replace the fonts in the linkfonts\fonts folder and then reboot the kindle it appears to reboot fine and the progress bar finishes but then it gets stuck on just the kindle image screen with the kid and the tree. I rebooted it again and it just comes up with a blank screen. What am I doing wrong? The Kindle has the 3.1 firmware. Help!

Thanks for all the information!
I've been trying to follow the instructions, but am having trouble with my DX graphite. I used the "update_jailbreak_0.9.N_dxg_install" file to jailbreak the kindle dxg, but the update option is not available when I try to use the update_dxg-2.5.8-prepare_kindle. I need to display Chinese characters. I was wondering, has anyone been successful yet in getting Chinese onto the DXG? I've seen a few success cases for the DX, but not the DXG. |

Hey, I haven't been on here in forever since I got 3.1 I think on my Kindle. I haven't updated it to the version shipped with the ad-based Kindle due to a lack of need to be on WiFi all the time and thus no reason to update. However, my wife was just gifted a kindle 3 wifi like mine and I'm sure it came with the newer firmware. I saw that you can't jb for the ad-based one but can you still jb the non-ad enforced with the new firm? I know the answer is on here and nothing is worse than people who ask without looking but I'm in the middle of moving so if someone was willing to just let me know yes or no I'd really appreciate it! Thanks.

Hi NiLuJe,
Do you have a new jailbreak hack for Kindle 4.0 (the kindle mini, b00e)? |

I installed the font mod after the screensaver mod and jailbreaking the kindle, but seem to be unable to see where to switch fonts. I press the Aa key, and only see the default three choices. The fonts have changed noticeably since the installation. This is my first time installing these mods and I'm not sure how it's supposed to be accessed.
