As The Mirror Cracks

As The Mirror Cracks is now available at RightBrane.com.

Quote:
The Mirror is more than just another virtual reality; it is a worldwide phenomenon, with average and exotic character "reflections," a unique physics of its own, and social, political and financial aspects that are deeply entwined with those of the real world.

So when a plot is uncovered to destroy The Mirror, it's serious.

It's a race to save The Mirror, and the real world with it, played out in both worlds and led by a mild-mannered reporter and his Mirror "reflection"... the ultimate superhero, Zenith!
This is realistic SF, set just a few years in the future, with a believable virtual reality component that includes superheroes and makes them a part of the story. This is revision 1 of the original novel, re-edited and proofed to improve the reading experience. Further info on the book is available at the Tech Catcher site.

A Walk In the Park by Tony Butcher - buy for Kindle on Amazon UK for £5.74.

A Walk in the Park is the sum total of author and meditation expert Tony Butcher's poetry, from the first piece of nonsense verse he wrote to long, spiritual poems written much later in his career.

Tony claims that these days he only writes when inspiration comes "hot from the gods". He reckons that all his best stuff has come that way and anything out of his own head tends to be "clever rubbish" by comparison.

The book title marks a watershed in Tony's life and poetic work. In a poem of the same name within the collection he illustrates a life-changing experience in Regents Park whilst in his final term at Sidney Webb Teacher College. In fact he has been particularly fortunate with life-changing events because he has had several.

In addition, many of the poems were also courses of instruction from a higher sources. He found verses came spontaneously concerning the ancient knowledge. Consequently he had to have time to assimilate this.

One day in the 1970s he found himself on the brink of madness. He was trying to write two different poems simultaneously: one with the right hand and one with the left. The one the right hand wrote was his initial inspiration for "Mary"- one of his very best compositions. He said the one his left hand was writing had to be discontinued in order to keep his sanity - the jury is still out on that!

Within this book you will find poems of every tone and mood, from folk song lyrics to humour and everything else in between. The poet himself is particularly keen on one long poem called the "Hoop Dance". It is about a dance a redskin shaman performed to illustrate the meaning and purpose of life to his tribe.

Rich as it is in one man's life experiences and meditations on the same, A Walk in the Park can be said to attempt exactly the same thing.

Review of SPECIAL CHARTER by Chris Bauer

Recent review up at Books: The Cheapest Vacation You Can Buy:

"I feel like lovers of Flannery O’Conner will really enjoy Bauer’s writing style as it is great piece for in-depth analysis and is a bit heavy for a short read."

Hi everyone, thought I would add my novel, The Pack, to the thread. It was recently number 1 in the Crime and Thrillers category on iTunes iBooks and was shortlisted for the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award.
The Pack

In the small farming town of Brereton in the Australian Snowy River Mountains, something is killing the livestock in the dead of night.

Sydney journalist, Beth Margraves, is at a turning point in her career when she is asked to cover the Brereton mystery for her newspaper.

Beth is reluctant to return to the small town she left soon after high school, leaving behind her widowed Father, and an unanswered marriage proposal from her then boyfriend.

Is the town really being terrorised by a pack of dogs, hiding in the national park that surrounds it? Or something far worse?

Returning to Brereton, Beth will come face to face with not just the town’s demons, but her own.

A quarterfinalist for the 2010 Amazon Breakthrough novel Award and inspired by actual events, ‘The Pack’ offers thrills and chills for all readers.

Available on Amazon for .99c
And Barnes & Noble for .99c

Serendipity House.

Sylvie was a pleaser. She did as her mother pleased, and she did as her fiancé pleased. Then she did as she pleased. Determined to take back her life, she heads to the hills instead of the altar on her wedding day. Coming across a quaint, country inn with an intriguing name, she impulsively checks in. Peopled with an odd assortment of characters, the inn has clearly seen better days; even the regulars have a bit of wear on them. When Alex arrives and is strangely comfortable vacationing among the geriatric set, Sylvie tries to ignore him.

But Alex will not be ignored, pushing her buttons until she admits, if only to herself, that she’s falling for him. Not until she's hired to manage the inn does she learn he's not the businessman he pretends to be, but a streetwise PI hired by her ex to find her. Adding insult to injury, he buys the inn and asks her to help restore it to its former glory, not an easy task with someone sabotaging their efforts.

Forced to work together, both learn about relationships, expectations, and acceptance—among family members as well as strangers who become like family.

“At heart, this was a romance, yet the story never descends into the sappy dialogue and thought processes of a swooning nymphette.” Lynn of Red Adept Reviews gave it 5 stars.

First two chapters on my website. Vistors welcome.

Where Dreams are Born, an e-book or print book from a small publisher.

It was supposed to be a win-win situation—a safe environment in which to raise a son for single mom Vicky, housekeeping and childcare for widowed Jack. Neither one wants or expects anything more. Life, however, has more in store than either one imagines.

“WHERE DREAMS ARE BORN is a delight to read and I'm looking forward to more books from Joyce DeBacco!” Ann of The Romance Reviews.

“Joyce DeBacco does a really good job of getting the reader invested in the outcome of this unusual pairing. Enjoy.” S. Wurman of Night Owl Reviews.

“This is truly a compelling novel of real life and will stay with me a long time”. Judith of The Book Binge.

“Joyce DeBacco pens one of those tales that is warm and loving while still mixed with trials that will touch a reader's heart.” Dee Dailey of The Romance Studio.

“ A well-written romantic novel with elements of suspense. Writing is fresh and evocative, highly readable and interesting.” Corina of Big Al’s Books and Pals.

“A stellar read.” Vine reviewer Wendy Hines of Minding Spot.

“I would recommend this book to those who like women’s fiction, romance and suspense, and who want to keep it light.” Stephanie Laymon of Five Alarm Reviews.

I've just released Cruel Justice, the third part of the Lorne Simpkins trilogy. It's the prequel to Impeding Justice.

The headless body of a wealthy widow is discovered decomposing in Chelling Forest. Detective Inspector Lorne Simpkins and her partner, DS Pete Childs are assigned to the case. A few days later another victim, this time a young girl, is discovered. Who could the killer be and what's the connection between the two victims?
Then after a third murder, the killer contacts Lorne with a grisly surprise. It looks like Lorne has a serial killer on her hands - and one that has become fixated on her. As she tries to solve the crimes, Lorne is also coping with a failing marriage and new, unsympathetic boss with whom she has a secret past. Then, as she begins to despair at the lack of clues, help arrives from an unlikely source.
