Does the Sony allow for a tap to page turn or is it swipe only?

At first I was turned off by the swipe only, but now I appreciate not being able to tap accidentally.

What they said, swiping only. I didn't phrase that really well the first time around.

Even though it's swipe only, it only needs a tiny, very light swipe. Almost like a tap. (Although I would want a tap option anyway)

I hope the swipe only has not as not been confirmed for the T1 yet.

Aldiko (for Android) does this nicely, tap for page turn, long press on word to bring up a context menu for Dictionary/Google/Wikipedia.

Tap versus swipe doesn't bother me. What I really like is that you can change the setting for whether you want left or right to be forward!

The T1 does have a stylus - I'm not sure how important that is, but it did jump out at me.

I think the reason you're not getting many responses is because what you're asking is kind of unclear. We can't really judge the T1 until it's out, and we also can't judge what's best for YOU.

There's also a tone to your OP that you've already made up your mind and just want people to confirm your opinion for you.

So my advice would be to do what you apparently already want to do. Why do you need our approval?

I love 3g for delivery of newspapers. I would miss it - so I am sticking to my 950. Almost tempted to buy another one, frankly - one day I will need a replacement.

Got a 950. Battery life is fine. No glare problems. 3G is non-functional for me, being outside the US. Wifi is useful for wikipedia. I like the screen size, I like the way it handles PDFs. I'd definitely buy it over a 6" device, though I wouldn't pay the kind of premium you need to pay for one now.

thanks to all of the responses to my question on swipe and tap to page turn. Sounds like the swipe only will be nice and easy to use.

Now if my T1 would only leave the FedEx depot in La Grange, IL!

I thought it was perfectly clear. List the pros and cons of each device. I expected people to list them if they knew so I wouldn't have to spend precious time on doing the research myself, which I ended up doing after all.

Well I did partially make up mind before posting in the sense I was leaning towards the PRS-950 based on the info I had by then, but I wasn't making the post to get confirmation of my opinion or your approval of my decisions. I'm quite capable of making them myself thank you very much, and have been so for a long time now.
The reason I made the post was to quickly acquire detailed information so I could make an informed decision, as I (almost) never make decisions lightly.

Now that you've mentioned that, I wonder, would you prefer an Android based interface in a Sony reader or the usual ? What perks would you expect out of Android ?

Well, of course! It makes far more sense for us to spend our precious time doing the research for you!

If that was all you wanted, there's a Wiki expressly for that purpose. Top of the page, says 'Wiki' and everything.

Anyone here is quite happy to answer *specific* questions as to features. 'Tell me what I should do' is not in our mandate.
