The apts. where I live only allow a very few such as cats. There is one gentlemen with a dog, but his is a special case as it's a helper animal (he's in a wheelchair and the dog helps if he needs help of some sort). I don't have any pets though because you have to have renters insurance as well as all the other expenses that go with said animal and I can't afford that expense on my income.

Just went to a friend that owns 6 cats and two dogs. And he lives in a small flat with three rooms

Just got a lamb to bring the size of our flock to three. He's worked out to go into the shed when it rains which is more than his big flock mates have ever done.
