				German Language Problems?

			Hello everybody!

I have a nice problem converting German TXTs to MOBI: What I do: I have some old German books in scanned PDF format, 2 column text. Therefore a direct conversion does not work. So I save in Acrobat reader to TXT, and use Calibre to convert to MOBI. This works fine quite often, but some letter-combinations switch the complete special characters of german language to some other characters. for example the word "größte" (what means "biggest", no rare word) appears in a text, all german special characters "ä,ä, ü, Ä, Ö, Ü and ß" change to some probably norhern european characters. If I - manually - change all the "...ößt..." combinations to the not so correct "...össt...", the complete text appears correctly. A bug in calibre, or is it me who is doing something wrong? many thanks in advance... Werner |
