It's not about if W8 will run on ARM chips or not. Apparently, it will. The issue is this:

Sinofsky corrected a questioner on the issue, stating unequivocally for the first time that Windows 8 on ARM devices will run only the new Metro widget-style apps, not legacy Windows apps like Office.

So it will be the same W8 running on x86 and ARM, but on ARM legacy Windows apps will not work.

Windows on other processor architectures isn't particularly new. I worked for a company that released NT4 software for Dec Alpha's.

I suspect support of other platforms will be as good as it was then too...

And? Did you expect legacy Windows 7 apps to run on ARM architecture? Don't be silly! That is impossible without some kind of emulation, no very safe actually. I am not surprised, are you? And that's not an issue. Why do you think is Microsoft unleveling Windows 8 so early, probably 18 months before its release? Answer: To give time to the developers to create or adapt apps for Windows Metro or/and ARM architecture. So, Windows 8 is expected to have a good amount of apps running in all architecture by the time of its release.

Reason #108 why I hate flash. The stupid plugin keeps wanting me to update it, and then requires a reboot of windows? What the heck is a plugin putting in my system that it needs a reboot?

No, I wasn't expecting legacy Windows apps to run on ARM, although, as you say who knows what happens by the launch date (and/or after)? My point was that on ARMs W8 will run, in both flavours (Metro and desktop), but (at least some) legacy Windows apps will not.

That's more a Windows issue than a Flash issue.

That's right, this is not even a RC, it's a pre-beta software. The exciting thing is that for a pre-beta stage, the OS is quite impressive.

That's odd; Flash updates really shouldn't need a system reboot. I don't recall that ever happening on any of my systems.

Then something is VERY wrong with your Windows installation. Flash updates haven't required me to reboot Windows (2000, XP or 7) in years.
