i doubt that because i have a friend with a 3g and it came with a wall-charger identical to the one that came with my k3 (wifi). both bought online from amazon.com and shipped to so cal.

I didn't get a wall charger with my Kindle, but I just use my mobile phone charger. No problems with that so far.

HarryT, let me put in another way, then. When I ordered a Kindle 3G from Amazon.com it came WITHOUT a charger; when I ordered a Kindle Wi-Fi from Amazon.com, it came WITH a charger. I live in North America; you live in the UK -- I have personal experience of this. (Both orders for "latest generation" -- 3rd generation -- Kindles.) Yes, I live in Canada (part of North America); it's conceivable actual US customers are handled differently (although Canada and the US share identical electrical systems). But a blanket "Not true" is not a correct response to my statement.

Let me re-phrase it, then. You get a charger with both the 3G and WiFi K3 if you buy it in the United States. I have no idea what Amazon do or don't do in Canada, Mexico, or any other places that may be considered to be parts of North America

Perhaps it would be simpler to say this: if you live anywhere but the US and receive a power adapter for EITHER Kindle, it's a mistake. I just checked the Kindle Wi-Fi ad after changing the country to "Canada" and it only promises only a USB cord for charging via computer, not a power adapter.

So you're saying that the fact that I, and everybody else who lives in the UK, received a wall charger with our Kindle, is a mistake?

Sorry, I meant Amazon.com, not Amazon.co.uk. Yes, you would definitely receive a UK power adapter.
