In addition to what others have said, I'd like GPS and a compass. Lack of these two features means I can't use Google Sky Map.

Ditto on the bluetooth and the night mode. Need more video codex - would LOVE Netflix or Hulu Plus on it. REALY would like a List mode for the book shelf to organize my 300+ books easier.

It sounds like you guys want a full featured tablet and not an e-reader. If thats the case why not just buy a tablet?
I would like a file manager and bluetooth support, maybe the android app store. Other than that I love my nook color the way it is. An e-reader first and tablet second. EDIT: An enhanced night mode would be nice also. |

If the new Amazon tablet can do everything the NC can do at the same (or better) price and has open access to the Amazon market, then the NC is going to have some serious, threatening competition and I would look at getting the Amazon tablet instead. |

I would like to to do all the functions that you can get if you "root" it. I love that high pixel screen and find it a shame that it lacks functionality that can be fixed by rooting it. Though I do appreciate what it does without rooting it. I just wish that the new nookColor 2 would be a little more less exclusive so I would not have to change the format of every video I want to watch. I love reading on the current NC and it has the best display out there. I hate that I cannot listen to audio via bluetooth. When there are multiple people in the house it does not make sense that I have to inflict my music taste on everyone else. Also being a bluetooth connection would prevent my cat from trying to eat the cord and the current plug in my NC for plugging in earbuds intermittently would flake out an loose audio.
I am also looking forward to the new Amazon Kindle tablet because it is supposed to be a rounded device. Due to the current markets and financial situation that the whole country is facing it would be a better buy for people to have a more rounded device. I know it makes me debate how much I would use the device before I would buy it. The more it could do the more it makes me want to shell out more money. |

I can relate to that! My cat once chewed through the wires on my expensive noise-cancelling Bose headphones. Luckily the wires are a separate module from the headset, and I was able to purchase new wires for $15 from Bose to repair them. I also purchased a spare just in case...

I don't see dual core, Honeycomb (thankfully) or the Android Market in the NC's future. I suspect Honeycomb will be looked back upon as the Windows Vista of the tablet world--half baked and best forgotten once a more robust and versatile system arrives.
The only meaningful hardware changes B&N can make are lighter weight and better battery life, possibly achieved with a more advanced processor and a different screen technology. Something transflective would be amazing, but I'm not holding my breath. It would be hard for them NOT to improve the audio, given the low bar they set with the first NC. GPS and supported bluetooth are both strong possibilities. The only feature I could see giving it a significant edge over Amazon and the budget tablets is video chat, meaning a camera, some form of mic support (and/or a mic), and at least one optimized app. As for a wish list, I don't have one. I'm not expecting the NC2 to be the same unique value its predecessor was for so long. If I trade up in the next year, it probably won't be for another B&N product. You realize everything you've mentioned is already present in the current Nook Color? |

Yeah.... it really pissed me off when my cat chewed on a $30.00 pair of earbuds. I had purchased them less than 24 hours and I had just took them off and less than 5 minutes later and chomp chomp. I had to immediately leave I was so upset.

It was common in the early days of pc's to say killer programs sold pc's. Apple might not have survived long enough to develop mac's, ipod's etc.. without adobe's publishing software and other graphics related software. Who knows what will develop? Perhaps tablets will evolve into mini hubs for braclet devices, earplug phones, hid optival devices. There will always be cost / feature tradeoffs. |
