Stitchawl: I do not care so much for the 6- (or is it 8- ?)-pack, nor about what is under it (now, what is really under it ??? I am wondering, animal, vegetal or mineral ? ), but where did you get that gorgeous hat ?

On the subject of Lingerie : I gave up on those. It is just not my thing. Superman says I look really good in them (he is such a cute liar), but I feel so uncomfortable in it that I end up acting like a dork, aka ruining the effect. CK Sports Underwear, that I know I look good in AND feel comfy too. I can't spend time in a lingerie shop, I don't see the point.
Superman wants me to add : he thinks I look best in his shirt.

I agree, and I think that's why I started feeling so argumentative on this topic anyway! I would hope that all of you young girls here on the forum want to buy and wear the pretty lingerie because it makes YOU feel pretty and sexy, not because you are trying to fit into a mold of how some man thinks you should look. Yep, I grew up in the bra burning generation, and although I've mellowed from that I still firmly believe that the very first person you should try to please with your fashion choices should be yourself. Mini-rant over.

Drat! I didn't notice the Coke... And so, now you all realize that it's not a photo of me. Anyone who knows me knows that I'd never drink that stuff even on a bet! I've been caught switching photos again....
I didn't think anyone would catch on...

But... in fact, I did look quite like that...40 years ago. I fought professionally in Fencing competitions and in amateur martial arts tournaments all through my 20's and early 30's. Taught skiing, rock climbing, kung-fu, fencing, etc., etc., so I was always in excellent physical condition, with nary an ounce of fat. Sad to say but the years caught up to me in my 40's, passed me by in my 50's, and left me floundering by in my 60's. My body served me well back then, but it needs be my mind serving me today. But...

... I still do wear a Speedo, but only when scuba diving. MUCH easier when wearing a wetsuit, and I don't have to worry about beach bunnies laughing.

Can't one please both themselves and their significant others? I would think that best. No argument that we need to please ourselves, but aren't there times when we want do things to please others?

I completely agree with you Betty. I wouldn't buy anything that doesn't make me feel comfortable and pretty.

But I totally agree with you too! There's nothing better than having bf tell me I look good today. So on the days I meet him, I do think about my choice of clothes more thoroughly, and ask myself whether he would like my outfit too

I will always try to please him wearing something that he likes, but not to the point of feeling ridiculous and very bad in it myself. Catwoman yes , Busty Nurse : no.
After all, I am a superhero !

Mind you, he likes lingerie, but when I wear the only sexy lingerie I like, which are silk short gowns in either cream, beige or black, he keeps wanting to take them off me. What's the point ?

I don't think we were saying things that were 'opposite.' I see them as 'compliments,' things that work together. No fighting.

Being 'sexy' is inside, not outside a person. One doesn't need to look like a beauty contest winner or a Chippendale dance to be incredibly sexy. It's how you see yourself that counts. One of the sexiest woman I ever knew had a body like a fireplug!

And it's really hard to see oneself as sexy if you are feeling ridiculous, man or woman. And it's not just clothing. It's a symbiosis of the 'right' clothing AND right mindset. For some, an old flannel shirt can be every bit as sexy as $1,000 designer nightgown. Of course on others, it just looks like an old flannel shirt... The trick is to know what we can use to our best advantage.

Only quoting one thing here, because I'm lazy. Chris and I have an "understanding" about lingerie. I love the stuff, but only if it's comfortable and makes me feel sexy - I don't like the costume type, and neither does he. Chris's favorite thing to see me in, oddly enough, is the plain old gray sweatpants and one of his old gray t-shirts or sweatshirts. I switch out between the two, according to my mood.

That being said, I think Chris and I naturally fell into the understanding that if you feel good you look good. I don't think it works that way for everyone, though. I see a lot of guys complain that their wife/ gf never dresses up for them; or doesn't wear lingerie. And I see a lot of women complain that their guy expects them to be uncomfortable for the sake of looking sexy.

There are definitely times that we want to please others. I just don't think it should always be one party trying to please, which I think is what Betty was getting at. For some reason, in lots of cultures, it always seems to be the woman's job to please the man. Of course, then there's the point that men just look stupid in lingerie....
