I agree completely and applaud the way they did it in allowing users to download the new epub versions!

Their movement to epub was the incentive for me to buy my first e-ink reader -- my Sony 505 which I still use more than any other.

Just as was stated above -- tons of books in lrf format that must be converted now that the new ebook readers don't support it.

Not necessarily going to epub but removing the LRF support from newer ebook readers.

Another cover without lights, and a cheap clip on light I picked up at Borders.

The only time I have used the light, was while the power was out after Irene hit.

I have not needed it on planes (they have lights) or in the bedroom/hotel room. They have enough light, and I don't tend to read while my wife is trying to sleep.

I would seriously consider just getting the regular case for the T1 -- the lighted case (8oz) weighs more than the device itself (5.9oz)! Regular case is better (3.3 oz) but I'm considering skipping it all together and just using some kind of sleeve.

Amazing that they could make the device so light in the first place.

If you want to check out more detail, there's more info in the Sony store now.

The store has expanded! THis is looking up and up. Especially since my Kobo Touch is so freaking buggy.

There are still quite a few books I'm into that Sony doesn't carry but Kobo and/or Baen carries so I'm feeling warm and snugly.

All of then are ePub. You can read books from baen or Kobo on a sony of course. Sony is not amazon

Only B&N and apple are a problem.

I don't think this has been verified yet. I strongly suspect it's finally been ditched, but it's still possible LRF is supported.

If it is deprecated, I will finally have found a reason to be glad Sony doesn't update previous models!

If you mean LRF support in the PRS350-650, it was supported, LRX, not so sure...

I was actually just googling and I think I'm wrong. I was assuming that because of issue with the Sony Library Software not allowing transfer or LRX/LRF

Excuse my confusion.

and here: http://www.blitzreview.com/gadgets/s...er-prs-t1.html

it does list BBeB format

At least it's consistent with the new Reader software not importing LRF/LRX. Of course the Sony website also has a history of inaccuracies so who knows!

No problem! Indeed, the PRS-*50 does support LRF; I have the 650 and 350 both. And this is also why I'm on the look-out for low-priced PRS-350s. I wants my LRF!

That strikes me as pretty thin! RTF, MS Word DOC, and HTML were previously supported. I never use any of these formats, so I'm not even sure if the PRS-*50s support them.

I found it rather surprising as well. Seems to me if one's device is fairly similar to competing devices, one might as well leave support for more formats intact, use it as a selling point.
