For me a book light is essential. I have found E-Ink requires better illumination that a printed page. I have a mighty bright travel flex light. It runs on one AAA rechargeable battery. Recommended.

Something worth noting, the Lighted Covers use LEDs, and the batteries last a lot longer than traditional lights. I love LEDs.
I actually use a headlamp, which is overkill but it sure came in extra handy when my whole city lost power! -Pie |

And if you don't require quite that quality, there are cheaper LED lights on EBay. Get a twin one for preference (often listed as a "music stand light").. They look like antennae. The dual lights seem to give less reflection on the screen.

That is what I use too. $12 at my local B&N. I don't plan on buying a lighted cover for the T1. I read mostly without a cover with my Kindle and I seldom ever use my lighted cover due to not being able to switch the side the light points at.

Readers and covers available for pre-order on the Sony Style site, as well, now.

Looks like BBeb and LRF will not be supported on the T1. Bummer, I would have to convert over 500 files (fanfiction and MR downloaded books). However, since my 505 is still going strong, despite the battery problems earlier this summer, I can't justify a new reader, since I already got my Xmas/Bday present already (a new laptop).

In someway, yes it might annoy some long time customers, they really should have thought about giving loyal customers some options besides having to convert all formats themselves using third-party software.
But in the long run, I'm really happy with Sony's strategy in fell swoop consolidating their hardware, software platform, and ebook format. This is only way they can possibly compete with Amazon and B&N in the ebook reader market, at least in the United States. |

And on the other hand, they abandoned their proprietary format and DRM in favor of epub and the more widely accessible (and easily removable) Adept DRM, so overall, I think that's a good thing.
Speaking as someone who's been around ebooks long enough to see a number of formats come and go, the less proprietary, the better. And when they made the switch, they gave all their customers the option of redownloading everything they'd bought in epub - I don't know what else they could have done to make people happy other than never changing (and that's death).
