![]() It was a very good year It was a very good year for small town girls And soft summer nights We'd hide from the lights On the village green When I was seventeen When I was twenty-one It was a very good year It was a very good year for city girls Who lived up the stair With all that perfumed hair And it came undone When I was twenty-one When I was thirty-five It was a very good year It was a very good year for blue-blooded girls Of independent means We'd ride in limousines Their chauffeurs would drive When I was thirty-five But now the days grow short I'm in the autumn of the year And now I think of my life as vintage wine From fine old kegs From the brim to the dregs And it poured sweet and clear It was a very good year ![]() ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ttLR...eature=related ) 'Morning, folks... A bit sad this morning... I received word last night that a childhood friend passed away. Although I hadn't seen her in almost 50 years, I still have fond memories of our group of friends gathering together in the park after school... I'm getting so old that my friends in heaven are probably thinking I didn't make it! ![]() Time passes, and so do we. Nothing to do about it but get on with the business of living. To that end, a mug of my finest. East India Company's "Assam" tea, a bowl of rice, miso soup, and tsukemono, then a ride through the mountains outside of Kyoto... Sunshine, blue skies, fresh air, and a motorcycle... Stitchawl |

unfortunately loss is part of life and we always need to try to celebrate the time we have had rather than the loss. I recently reconnected with an old Army buddy who went through a rather nasty divorce. his adult (adult but only 19) daughter is kind of acting out and he is very frustrated with her. she has asked to stay with him for 3 weeks, he only has a 1 bedroom apartment, but has a sleeper sofa in the living room. he had worked himself into a frenzy over not being able to cope with her for 3 weeks, and I finally told him that this is the only time that we have, and what we turn away from we regret forever as we cannot get it back
chardonnay and iced green tea... 2 cups, not together ;o) |

Coffee, first, need to wake up. Prince and princess let me sleep late, sweet, but I think I overdid it.
Afterwards, it will be fruits, but in which combo ?? @Stitchawl: you are not old. This is utter nonsense. Aren't you the tiger with the guitar ? |

![]() [/QUOTE] ![]() that's a very good one. Look man, old age is when time becomes the turning of the calendar and worst of all when it becomes the movement of the hands of the watch. Until that time ... just enjoy. ![]() |

BTW. I tried a broccoli smoothie for breakfast:
1 dl water, ¼ GrannySmith apple, 6 florets of frozen broccoli, 6 thin slices of frozen banana. Excellent. With the apple alone it was too green as flavor, it needed sugar. I added the banana and it became a perfect basic breakfast drink (to my taste). I learned to be careful with banana that has an overpowering flavor. Last edited by beppe; 09-10-2011 at 03:25 AM. |

Three cheers for the East India Company. It was just a couple of days ago that I place my order for two hundred grams of their Keemun tea... and it arrived this afternoon! THAT is good service!

Little niece came over today. Actually her mom went by and dropped her here very early in the morning, even before I woke up. She's 3. As good as every other 3-year-old child. Asking and self-answering for hours straight. Didn't take the nap at noon. I made her cry once or twice over some milk and my rackets. Well... the relationship between niece and aunt is never easy, esp. if the aunt is 19.
So, very strong and sweet black coffee for me at 5:30 pm. That'll help the eyelids open this evening... hopefully. |

"the relationship between mother and daughter is never easy, esp. if the mother is 43". Petite Princesse, who really is way past that age, decided this morning that she could not let me swim in peace and so drew on her brother's bedroom door. ![]() ![]() Raspberry gazpacho in one cup, water in the other. Plus a nice plate of Serrano in very fine slices, and a salad (romaine, tomato, cucumber) with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. A very nice typical Med lunch. |
