Micro-USB-chargers are all the same - even from HTC. If she owns an older reader, like the prs-300 or 600 then yes, HTC Mini-USB-chargers won't work. |

Anyway, it seems doable enough for me to spend a little more time getting it to work. And when I do, then Send to Dropbox might come in handy. |

That's not that simple at all...
If you google for USB & charger & problem you will recognize that here are a lot of peoble out there having similiar problems with loading various gadgets over USB. Reason could be that USB ports and chargers differ from each other concerning power. And more than that, different gadgets (readers, cellphones, ...) differ in handling switching to charging mode. USB ports have 4 wires inside, two of them are for power supply (which differs in voltage/ampere). Some device just need the two power connectors to be loaded (and of course enough power). Other devices are checking if on the other side of the cable is a PC, a charger, if there is enought power, or (I guess) the "original" Apple-charger. And exactly here lies the problem. To charge some devices switch into charging mode. And before doing that, they have to recognize a chaerger as a charger. Which doesn't always work. You can find various work arounds to solve this problems. For example soldering an electric resitance between two of the four wires. Or bridge two distinct wires... or... I guess, the Sony-readers are checking "whatever ist is" exists otherwise refuse charging. A. |

Apparently the Kindle web browser cannot download PDF's. Odd. I can see why you'd want PDF's with your KDX. I didn't realize that since I use MOBI's with my K3. I use Dropbox with my tablet too to transfer EPUB's. So, if the Sony T1 works with Dropbox, then it'll be nice if it supports downloads of both EPUB and PDF.

The T-1 looks good, but I picked up a 950 at a good price about a week before the T-1 was announced. I don't see anything yet that makes me regret buying the 950.

All things considered if I had a 650 I wouldn't upgrade until I had to, because WiFi isn't that big of a draw for me. |

At 4.34 inches wide, the T1 is the narrowest of all the small readers.
Kindle 3G, 4.80" Nook Touch, 5.00" Kobo eReader, 4.50" Sony T1, 4.34" 4.34 inches (T1) fits in my shirt pocket! What I am interested in now is what kind of browser does it have? |

I love the small form factor of my PRS-350, but now that I've given my husband my PRS-505 I would like to have a 6 inch reader for reading in bed and for reading manga, as well as my 5 inch reader. Now that the PRS-T1 has a lower price I won't feel guilty about getting a new Sony Reader. I will miss the metal casing, but I am excited about the multi touch. I haven't had any desire for wifi on a reader so far, but perhaps I will find it handy once I have it. I really like that I will have more font choices (both in size and type). Now, the only question is, should I hold out for the Harry Potter Reader, or should I just dive in and get the red PRS-T1 once it is released?
Also, perhaps I may even be able to get a Kindle app on there if it is able to be rooted, always a plus. |

Sony is assuming consumers can't tell the difference and that may be true to some extent, but if Amazon does a kindle refresh before Christmas I'll bet it will be 200+ ppi. And yes, it is a failure since as a 350 owner I have no incentive to upgrade my device, so they missed out on selling the product to an entire market segment.
