This is sad news. Years ago I had the pleasure of corresponding with Michael Hart, and found him to be an exceedingly kind and helpful gentleman. He gave so much, and had so much more to give. Sixty-four is too young for a man of his caliber. He will be greatly mourned—and missed.

A sad loss but what a great legacy to leave to the world! There must be millions of people in the world who have been able to read books, no matter where they live, thanks to Project Gutenberg.
Our best way of remembering him would be to encourage governments & large companies to fund the efforts to publish as much freely available material as possible and I am glad to say my own University of Adelaide does this. This way Michael Hart's vision will live on.

Very sad news to hear of his passing. He definitely made the world a richer place for readers all over the world. His influence will be forever, and he was truly a pioneer.
