In terms of the T1, this does bring up the question of "Apps." I know a video here said no Android, but Engadget says it was confirmed to be Android-based. http://www.engadget.com/2011/08/31/s...inch-e-reader/ It would be nice to add an app or two if possible, specifically reference-based apps or others which fit the e-Reader motif. And in answer to why update from a PRS-505, to me the answer is pretty simple: speed. I love my 505, but it's a dog. You're also getting a generational bump in screen readability. -Pie

That's so cool. I just described the T1 as 950 that doesn't hurt the wallet and right up popped an actual 950 that doesn't hurt the wallet. So there it is, the T1 experience.

I go the opposite direction... I gotta keep my eyes open for the PRS-350 when the price drops! I would love a couple more, they are great in so many ways... I wish they were faster, but they're small, convenient, and the dot pitch is better than any Reader on the market, except maybe the iRiver Story HD. -Pie

Its really weird that the prices in Europe in the Eurozone for the T1 seem to be so different. In Germany its 150Euros, in Spain 179, in Belgium 165. Why on earth? Actually with an education discount, I managed to preorder it here even for 135 Euros.

I believe it has Annotation as well as a stylus. |

But there is one difference, I believe. You can synch annotations if you have more than one 950. I don't think - or perhaps I just couldn't figure it out - you can synch annotations between a 950 and a 350, or across multiple 350s. Otherwise, their system of annotations works (or doesn't, depending on subjective opinions) in the same way.

I sync annotations between my 950, 350 and an old 505 that's still in use in my household. You just have to use the Sony software to do so because obviously the other models don't have wireless. I also sync between my 950 and the Sony Android app. In the videos that I have seen you can add notes and highlights still. I have also seen them draw on the screen with the stylus. It doesn't look that different to me other than the menu system. |

Seems like every time a new reader comes out, I buy an old one. When the N2 came out, I snapped up a Sony 950; now that the T1 has been announced, I've bought a Sony 350 on eBay. (Local Best Buy is out, alas.) I really didn't want to buy the 350 because I am still cheesed about the lack of expandable memory, but I *need* a 5" reader, and as much as I love my PocketBook, I've gotten so used to the 950 interface that it now feels odd to switch between the two. |
