Well, the best bit is, Sony is still in game.
Price difference was just too big and they've fixed that. |

A wee bit ambivalent here. I am also partial to the metal... feels more solid. But the price is tempting. Anyways, until there is a 2 page eink reader I'm staying with my ye olde PRS-505 (or until it kicks the bucket).

![]() Just typed 'Sony PRS 650 charger' into Amazon.co.uk and it came back with at least half a dozen different UK ones from £0.99 to £7.99. And one international travel charger 110-240v with adaptors for US, UK, Europe and Australia for £13.00 All a lot cheaper than the Sony one. ![]() |

[QUOTE=Asawi;1731816]Soooo... actually the K3 does not do "everything" better (if the T1 is similar to the 650). Reading is he main, close to only, use for my eReaders. [QUOTE]
Yeah, but reading with buttons or by touch is merely a matter of personal preference. What is a superior reading experience for you or me is not for a lot of other people. The T1 is an advance over the 650, but it is nowhere near the K3 when it comes to getting content onto the EBR. That could change, of course. I think that the T1 represents a "course correction" for Sony. |

Walking around with my leather-covered 505 in my coat pocket is awkward. The thing swings and bangs around like a rock. A much lighter reader sounds tempting, but I too like my 505 too much to replace it before it dies.

With the Sony you can also just take the SD Card and transfer a huge number of books onto it quite rapidly. That's an advantage the Kindle does not have. |

I will probably buy one. I still have the PRS-300 so it is bound to be a step up battery-wise anyway.
Metal is nicer in a way, but not like this will be the only plastic thing I own. I never balance my 600 on its edge so the curve at the bottom is unimportant, and I would be surprised if I noticed the glare on the plastic bezel while reading as I don't seem to find it distracting on a TV or tablet. Don't care about wi-fi although I am sure I will use it once or twice, or directly downloading books (sideloading is actually more comfortable for me) and if I don't like it I can always return it (Hard to imagine) Helen |

I don't get the SD card as making any difference when it comes to transfers. I can just as easily attach the EBR. The advantage of the card seems to me to be in storage capacity, & then mainly for pictures or maybe music. |

I can't remember if I already posted this, was interrupted by family every time, but my daughter wants the t1. She has the original Kobo and was happy at first then became frustrated w/the way the UI is, so hasn't been using it. She has envied the simple straight forward menu of my PRS300.
I've encouraged her to look at all the current ereader models available to be sure this time around. She was hoping to get the Sony 350 but it is sold out everywhere, doesn't want to go the Kobo route again, doesn't care for the Kindle shape, has looked at the Nook, but not convinced it would be the one for her. Library downloads being of A1 importance. So, the T1 was announced on her bday, the 31st. When available it will be her bday gift. She does prefer the footprint of my PRS 300 or the 350. Me, I'm enjoying my 300 and have no plans to upgrade until it bites the dust. Have had it a year and a half now. Love balance of the device with the leather cover w/light, I forget that I'm reading on a device. ![]() The Kobo will be backup or maybe gifted to family member. Battery duration is important to me. Will this be significantly be shortened if I use an SD-card for my books i.o. the internal memory?

That completely depends on the owner. For me, I have about 6 books I put on a K3 without computer. And those 6 are part of a 600+ book library. The rest, I do need a PC. At least for my Sony, I simply pop the SD card, put it in the SD card slot on my PC or laptop and be done. For the K3, I need to find a cable.

Since I almost exclusively read library books Kindle would not make things any easier at all for me either. The opposite actually.
But we're not meant to turn this into another Kindle vs Sony discussion. I'm curious how the T1 will handle library borrowing, since they mention it in the specs. |

Actually, a better friend for chargers for the Sony 950 is the iGo store at www.iGo.com. I have bought several of their adapters and they work like a charm.
