Kobo reader searching
Viewing an ebook isn't all that different than viewing HTML files. It shouldn't be very challenging.
Now I'm thinking, why not integrate it into the dictionary lookup too? It has happend that a term was defined with an unknown term. |

Kobo devs back on the job!
I gotta admit, there might have been just a leeettle bit of, maybe, unjustifiably highhanded criticism in this thread.
Maybe Kobo devs just spent August on vacation, lots of people do! So unless we're dealing with some kind of sullen defiance(a la my eight year old niece), we can expect some results promptly. |

Read through all 26 pages. Here are some things that jumped out at me as "yes, me too please!"

It would be nice if the Reading Life stats weren't erased after a factory reset. I actually thought that synching via the desktop app stored the stats in the Kobo cloud, but I guess not.

I *THINK* that syncing via WiFi DOES save the stats.

Ok, all this social networking stuff is starting to get on my nervs.
If you really need the Leo Tolstoy award for reading "Anna Karenina" in a day, fine. If you really want all your so called s/n "friends" to know exactly what you're reading right now, fine by me, but I don't see the point. What if you wanted to read Anaïs Nin? Would you like everyone to know? There are some strange people who facebook "friend" their mothers. What happens to them when their moms find out they're reading erotica? Will they get a spanking? Is getting a spanking from their mother excatly what they want? Fact is "romance" novels are selling like hotcakes since they're available as ebooks. The theory is, that women who are to ashamed to buy the pulp in person, now do it online. |

I sent the request for a Kobotouch and the full source code right here on the forum! Just post a link to the whole thing, and then we'll figure out a way to have the device shipped to me in a more, ehem, discrete fashion. Soo Coool! I'm, being trolled, right? |

Trolled or not
Now that Kobo devs are back from vacation, if they could just, for a moment, an instant even, ignore the socnet bs, maybe they(he) might use the time to add that handfull of code to make the thing search text.
It's the request forum so: Don't forget to do the same for the dictionary. |

Highlighting for regular E-pubs would be nice instead of just for Kepub books. And search within a book (Like Chapter by name).

I just exchanged my Touch (screen issues) - now that it's set up, the new reader shows my total hours read, percentage of library complete, as well as hours read / pages turned in the book I am currently reading. Books finished is about right (although I finished one more than it says, it was from the library and is no longer on the device – that in itself could be a feature request, not sure). I read one library book on the device (DRM'd ePUB), and halfway through a Kobo ePUB.

Ohhh. I think I know what it saves. Reading stats might be attached to kePubs, but not ePubs. All my ePubs are sideloaded, so that might be why stats aren't saved.
Or... wait, no. Maybe it doesn't do it for DRM-less ePubs. Or it just does whatever it chooses at complete random. We may never know. |
