Has the revolt begun against Apple's iPad app fees?

The Financial Times strikes the first blow in the war on app subscription charges

How things change. It seems only a few months ago that magazine and newspaper publishers, maddened by the fact that the Big Bad Web enabled readers to access their content for free (and sceptical about the effectiveness of paywalls), decided that Apple's iPad was just the ticket. Henceforth, they would publish their stuff not as web pages but as iPad apps. Not only did this offer them a shiny device that would display their wares in glorious living colour, but it would also force cheapskates and freeloaders to pay real money for the privilege of accessing them. This was possible because nothing happens on the iPad without going through Apple's iTunes store, and Steve Jobs knows your credit card details. Thus the "free riding" that was commonplace on the web would become a thing of the past....

yeah, 1 app neglects to update, after dozens has already changed. Not much of a revolt.

Except it's not the fees:-

"The Financial Times has pulled its iPad and iPhone apps from Apple's App Store after losing a battle to keep control of customer data obtained through subscriptions." source = Reuters (my emphasis)

Comes as no surprise that the Guardian spins it the usual "Apple is greedy, Apple is evil" way though. For those who don't know The Guardian newspaper here in the UK is almost fanatically anti-Apple, and staff writers John Naughton and Charlie Brooker often quite comical in their outbursts.

It strikes me as strange that you call the Guardian anti-apple. Whenever they run an article about apple the comments always have people claiming that they are promoting them and on apple's payroll etc. etc. Brooker's relationship with apple is more complicated than hatred (link). I think that the truth is that apple is newsworthy and that they publish a range of opinions from the fawning to the furious.
