Was that a book? I was thinking of a book published by Random House that featured use of a female name for a storm. Then storms were called by female names until the naming was changed to using male and female names in later years. |

I have no idea is Hazel is right, or who published it, but this is the book I'm referring to, and given her personality, it seems to fit. It's probably the wrong answer, though, because the Wikipedia article says, "In 2008, the cartoonist's son, Peter Key, said, 'He picked the name Hazel out of the air, but there was an editor at The Post who had a sister named Hazel. She thought her brother came up with the name, and she didn’t speak to him for two years.'"
Spoiler:
Ted Key was also the creator of Peabody and Sherman. |

Great guesses, everyone.

Maybe, I didn't ask the question clearly enough? Quote:
It was a book published by Random House in 1941. It featured the use of a female name to name a storm. The winter storm was named "Maria." This was part of the History of Naming Hurricanes. It was also a film by Walt Disney presented on network TV (ABC), though "Maria" may have been pronounced as "Mariah". It inspired Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe to write the song "They Call the Wind Maria" for their 1951 musical "Paint Your Wagon." Last edited by dreams; 08-25-2011 at 04:48 PM. |

To move things on, the answer is in the spoiler.

It did get me for a moment, then (as the exam adjudicators would say), I read the question again, carefully...
