After playing with it for a little it actually seems a little faster to me. I went from 1.9.6 to this (I actually realised I hadn't updated mine at all from 1.9.6.. just my wifes to 1.9.9). Anyone else noticed any performance increase.

The question I have is about stock already in the stores. What about getting them updating to 1.9.10 (at least) so users won't have to deal with the storage error before they get the firmware updated?
If I was just a regular user who didn't know about the error and the new firmware, I'd think it was defective and want it swapped for a working unit. And then if I got another that also failed, I'd return it and buy a different reader. Last edited by JSWolf; 09-02-2011 at 04:59 AM. |

From what I remember the setup nudges you towards installing the desktop software and syncing up the first time which means you will get the latest firmware then. I believe you can skip if you wish in which case yes you will have whatever firmware it came with, but I imagine as time passes a newer revision will be installed at the factory. To retroactively unbox, update and test would be a rather tall ask. You also have to remember that not all of us got this bug, I never did. Anyway Kobo will have an idea of which direction is worth taking (% likely affected, amount of stock etc..)

I just successfully manually updated mine too.
Seems to work fine as far as I can see so far. |

When I setup my Kobo for the first time it automatically updated the newest firmware right away. So that shouldn't be a problem.

Yes that's exactly what I did last night. I'm not adding anything else until I get the update onto my Kobo.

It's fixed. The new release seems to have done it. I did one more factory reset and installed it yesterday, along with all my books from all sources, and I haven't seen the error message since. Thank you, Kobo!
