Sounds exciting - but I'm pleased the bear got away

I have really screwed up my kobo - can't get any library books to open even though ADE is correctly authorised as is my kobo. Oh well, I'll just have to be patient and hopefully I'll get the update tomorrow. Not game enough to try the manual update just yet.

So frustrating isn't it. Just happened to me again....for the 2nd time in 2 hours. I stupidly opened ADE when I had calibre open as well and then connected my KT. I knew as soon as I did it what the result would be. And sure enough...

Now I really am going to stop mucking around - I'll wait until tomorrow. Hopefully it will be a better day for both of us (and it's Saturday anyway so that's always a good thing).

As I said in another thread I got sick of waiting and just did the manual update. Worked a treat - not that I had this storage bug issue.

Does font embedding work on the Touch if font-family is used in the body style in CSS? This is a bug that is in the original Kobo and the Kobo WiFi that I've pointed out on MR a number of times with what seems to be no effect (not fixed). If it is in the Touch, then it should be escalated as a serious bug and fixed. Many publishers that embed a font put the font-family in the body style to activate it.

Happy to test if there is a sample book I can easily test?

Also excuse my ignorance (this is my first eReader 'n all) but what would this look like in practise?... does this mean an actual font that isn't on the device being embedded into the .epub container itself for display? How do epubs normally handle this if I elect a different system font?

Cool. Thanks for the tip.

After copying the files and disconnecting from the computer, my KT was stuck on the "connected and charging" screen even though I had ejected the KT from the system and unplugged the USB cable, so I had to manually reset it using the reset switch in the back, but the upgrade went through and nothing seems amiss. Just a heads up for people who might run into the same problem (for the record this was using Kubuntu 11.04).

SD Card problem still not fixed?

Anyone else still having the SD card problem with 1.9.10? The books on the SD card seen to take precedent over the ones on the device. They appear on the home page, regardless of whether any of them are being read or not.

When I first updraded to 1.9.10 the sd cards appeared on the home page despite what I was reading. I just turned off my Kobo and restarted it (nice new graphic when you are powering on!) and the books I have been reading are still on the home page.

The SD card problem was the only one I ran into prior to 1.9.10. It is gone now

Manually updated the wife's Kobo this morning, and she was finally able to connect to Kobo Desktop again which she hasn't been able to do for about a week.

I am on dial up here and I looked at the manual download - it is over 35 megabytes... is the next update going to be the same size or bigger? If so, can I skip this update and just install the next one?

I suspect that the filesize is due to the additional language support... the future versions will most certainly have this too. Perhaps you should just get it over with.

The updates so far have all been cummulative, so yes, the next one will be same size or bigger, and yes, you can skip the manual update until the next one. That is, assuming you don't use the Kobo Desktop sync function, which at some point will force the update on you.

Thanks for the info, think I may wait for the next update and just avoid the desktop till then. I have lots to read and my touch is working fine right now anyway. Once I know the next version is out I can just set it up to download overnight, which is what I did with the desktop update.

Got tired of waiting as it still wasn't updating so I did it manually. Putting all my books back on now and keeping my fingers crossed!
