One says "Sony Refurbished, sealed in box, never opened" and another says "Manufacturer Refurbished Item!" but I honestly haven't a clue. It could be a "pig in a poke," as the old saying goes.

I'm not doubting them. But I am leery as I have no idea what the warranty would be. That's the problem. Paying for an item that's not been tested and may have no warranty. Not a good idea.

I wouldn't...but I'm not a gambler. I don't purchase used electronic goods from small vendors from Ebay, Amazon, or wherever. I have a low opinion of human nature in general and it has served me well.

Good to see SONY get their pricing down to something a little more competitive. Be interesting to see what the underlying Andriod provides. Probably just made things easy as Android and it's Linux kernal is alreay made for low power devices, and if they are already investing in Android on phones etc. why not leverage the same skillsets found in your company (ie. Android Development).

I'm curious if there is any difference re: the Clear Touch and zForce IR touch sensors (with reference to that PCWorld chart). It's also sure is light, not that I can say my Kobo feels all that heavy.

Design wise I can't say I like the gloss much though. You see how reflective it is in the videos.

Yeah I don't know why they bother with it. The whole point with pinch and zoom is you can see the resized text/image in real time. Eink is too slow to do that, and pagination is CPU intensive.

Please, check it out then and see if the bezel is really as shiny as the 'shops hint.. Besides, we could always use a review from somebody who really knows something about ereaders!

The PcWorld article shows that it only has curved edges but a flat bottom. All Sony needs to do is give out a few more details (plus I need to see pics from real people to see possible glare) and you have a person who will buy their first ereader.

That reminds me to ask something I've been wondering about and haven't seen an answer for: With a wifi Sony Reader can it automatically connect to Calibre to fetch my daily news feeds? I love my PRS-350 but if the new T1 can fetch news wirelessly from Calibre automatically each day that'd be enough for me to grab one.

Well, that's not entirely true... I can't access my Calibre library from anywhere, except my home. That is rather dependent on situation.
