Maybe you could put something like , (ed.) after French's name in the post's title to show that he is the editor and not the author of these stories

why is "A torture by Hope" a "mystery riddle story" ???

its what Lovecraft calls a "cruel story".It'S somewhat similar to "Diary of a madman" by Maupassant,it shows terror without resovling to the supernatural per-se.
