It looks as if I got out of New England just in time. Lots of major flooding in Vermont. I have two friends who live along the Winooski River, which has overflowed its banks in several areas. It seems southern Vermont got hit much worse than the north, but even they got pretty wet.

Well, the weather here is trying to pretend that Irene never happened! Clear, sunny, breezy. Maybe rain tonight - we got none when Irene blew through!

Well, I was supposed to drop the van off at a body shop today to fix a dented bumper and tailgate. The body shop is on a road that runs along the Raritan river -- which, like many (most? all?) rivers in NJ went well above flood stage.

I took a chance and drove out, or tried to -- all approaches to their shop were closed off with barricades.

Oh, well. It could have been worse -- I could have dropped the van off last week!

EDIT: The weather is beautiful, though!

He-who-must-not-be-named, 20 minutes walk from beach in NYC, posted from his Kindle that neighborhoods on both sides got flooded and lost power, but that he had neither issue to deal with. Yeah!

I will! He'll be glad to hear you care. He says he took a walk in it; I had commented on enjoying that in 1974 when the tail of a hurricane swept central PA.

We missed this heatwave while we were in Switzerland (we only had rain and clouds which turn into fog if you climb higher and cross passess...)

Our weather is now determined to deny the occurrence of any hurricane. Massive thunderstorms last night. Sunny days with low humidity, topping in the 80's F!

Less the wind, I felt like last night's storms were worse than the once we had with Irene. Alot more thunder, lightning and really driving rain.
