should be about 172 x 110 x 9 mm. I compared the images of prs-650 and prs-t1 to get those numbers. more information in german here: http://cme.at/e-book-reader/leak-son...ezifikationen/ and a comparison to the prs-650: http://cme.at/datenblatt-2/sony-2/so...&h=sony&r=5007 |

A Tough Sell Multiple posts on the plastic being cost related, but the current gen was hampered by cost. Sony users gladly pay the "Apple Tax" but see it from a new user's perspective. The PRS350 is still available at Target online (link). It prices at $179 USD. If you get the same page I did, at the bottom are related readers, including the Amazon Kindle, multiple larger display models priced at $139. I'm no Kindle user, but even I thought "no brainer, I'm picking the Kindle." That's why it's a tough sell. Even a die-hard Sony fan, who loves his 350, decided on the Kindle when seeing prices side-by-side. Imagine the reaction new buyers have! I'm sure that plastic saves a significant amount of money. It's a bummer, but inevitable. Really, I'm surprised if anyone new to e-Readers even considered a Sony after seeing the price difference. -Pie Last edited by EatingPie; 08-29-2011 at 01:43 PM. |

I don't think the plastic is a big problem. I don't see huge haptic differences in the prs-650 and b&n nook for example. Both have their own feeling, but I wouldn't say one is better than the other. However: If the PRS-T1 has that glossy body, I think Sony will have problems selling that thing. Not only will this be a fingerprint-magnet, but every lightsoruce around you will reflect perfectly on that gloss. Hopefully the gloss was only added for those marketing photos and isn't actually present on the device itself. But I doubt it ... :-/ Last edited by cme; 08-29-2011 at 01:54 PM. |

I've yet to see a new ereader come along that is tempting for me to buy, this one included. My "old" Sony 505 continues to do exactly what I bought it for... to read books. My only complaint against Sony is that their software does not work on tablet PC's. So I have to use ADE to read my books on my HP Slate 500.

Free delivery by Amazon over wi-fi. Not free over 3G. To get free over 3G, you'd have to set up your PC as a Calibre content server. That wouldn't be automatic delivery, but rather would be you fetching the desired content. EDIT: I have the 3G Kindle, but free @ kindle.com will wait until I get within wi-fi range, though this may be because of my Amazon setting of $0.00 for "Maximum Personal Document Charge". However, its become common usage to name a thing with adjectives so that "Massively too large picture" would be a single compound noun. In that case the sentence is grammatically correct although adding a helping verb ("was" deleted or "has been" deleted) would be more commonly acceptable. at least, that's my take on it. /hijack | |
