Soooooo. He can hardly walk. His back legs are almost dragging. So worries me on the phone before I get home. have you checked him for ticks?....YES. he doesn't appear to be too sore anywhere, but drags his hind legs low if you force him to walk. Bear in mind he appeared at the back door, which means he had to jump up and down over a 6' fence to get in the back yard.

When I got home I gave him food which he ate. good sign that death is not imminent, I hope. I will search him for swellings in the morning. I bet he had some cat biffo this morning and is feeling sorry for himself. *remembers the carry on last time*
I hate it when Mr. M. does this to us! I hope he springs back quickly, or that you find the reason for the dragging. I bet you'll find some swelling somewhere by morning.

It looks like he will live through the night. I think his left leg is sore, but I can't find any injuries. Going to bed now and leaving him on the couch on his rug for the night. He seems normal enough. Maybe we can sleep in tommorrow as I suspect he will not be wah wahing at 4am wanting outskies.

If the leg dragging persists - get him to the vet! It could be neurological damage to his spinal cord - from a fight, fall, bad jump, etc!

Mr M seems much improved overnight!

He still seems to be sore in his hind legs, but he can walk if he has to, and to prove it he turned his nose up at the litter box (he only uses that if he is REALLY crook) and walked twenty feet over to the garden to go.

We had some German girls stay with us earlier this year and they couldn't understand why we fell about laughing when they told us they checked for red backed spiders each time they went to the toilet. It's really not bad, even out here in the bush we only see snakes occasionally and I haven't stepped on a blue ringed octopus yet.

Blame it on Animal Planet - they have shown many episodes describing the incredibly deadly spiders, bug, snakes, etc. - found in Australia! I'm surprised you get any tourists at all!
I can't even watch them without starting to itch!

woot, the cops stopped me and detained me for walking (home from walmart) while black. I'm not actually black but the idea still applies, I was stopped for daring to be out and standing out, questioned (5'th amendment baby 5'th amendment) lied to (ooo I'm so scared), had demands made of me (4'th amendment baby) and threatened with arrest (does that even work? I mean if you want to arrest me you're going to and there's jack I can do about it, am I supposed to think they're nice and trying not to arrest me when they stopped me and refused to let me go?)

I'm getting some caffeine into myself and heading down to the police station to file a complaint against the officers.

And yet another cherished illusion bites the dust! I thought all Australians lived like the late great Steve Irwin.

Everything I know about Australia I learned from watching "The Crocodile Hunter" and "Crocodile Dundee" films. Well, that and the fact that I spent a week in Sydney in 1969, so I should know better. (The Aborigine I dated while there always wore the latest fashions to the clubs. Her favorite group was the Supremes. Thanks to the media, not at all the image that comes to most American minds when the hear the phrase "Australian Aborigines".)

But, hey! You still live in the only country in the world where poisonous snakes outnumber the harmless ones.

I still haven't gotten the call that I can pick up my computer (which I bought a week ago and brought back on Monday because of a probable defective HD). On Thursday I got a call that they got the HD I ordered. I told the guy that was nice and asked what they were going to do with it, only then did he realize that they had my computer for repair.

My father expected that I would be able to pick up my computer before the weekend but I know with the start of the new schoolyear they have a lot of computers in that need upgrading or repairing. And I also hope they run some extra tests to see if it is really HD and not some other problem.

Still, I would like to be able to have my new computer this weekend, even if it means I have to make my way through the Saturday bustle with the trolley to go pick it up.

You mean there are some harmless ones? All three that live round here are poisonous: tiger snakes, dugites and death adders.

When you see someone advertising books for sale, don't comment that you can get one as a free e-book. I'm trying to make money here people!

I am exhausted from the busy work week on top of recovering from a headache early on in the week, and a guy blamed it on "that time of the month". Really? Are we in the 1700s?

I'm still trying to nab Catherynne M. Valente's "The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making.

Stupid Amazon. Okay, stupid me. Last week it was $8.67 for the Kindle edition, but I was hopeful for a $6 range. Well, this week:

Kindle: $12.95
Hardcover: $9.14
Paperback: $6.99

That's 40% more than the hardcover and 85% more than the paperback!?! Twice the cost? Really? I may not like harvesting more trees and I do love reading on the Kindle, but seriously. Is there anyone here that would buy the eBook with this pricing structure?
