We still have some tweaking to do in order to bypass the selected settings on every possible ePub. If possible, could you share the book with us, or tell us which one it is, so that we can check that out ? You can send it either by using our customer support or by mail (support[at]mantano.com).
Thanks !

I uninstalled the apk, and then re-downloaded and had the same thing happen. It said my trial use had expired when I went to open a book. Tried again on my son-in-law's rooted Pandigital and had the same thing happen.. Gave up... Will stick with Kindle ap and Aldiko.

Thanks Gregory,
We were talking about this on the Edge forum and Ptsenter came up with this..

****

Just wanted to give you some quick update:
bought the app for the sake of testing,
pulled it from an emulator,
as I suspected it had "preferExternal", switched to "internalOnly",
tried to install and got [INSTALL_PARSE_FAILED_NO_CERTIFICATES],
using SDK signed with my own cert,
installed.

BUT, when trying to run it recognized a wrong certificate and refused to run saying to download from Amazon again, which uninstalled my copy first and the failed to install.

As I promised I can force it to be installed, but running is completely different matter.

I don't know if I ever will be able to get around this problem which starts with eDGes not having devmapper to handle encryption-decryption.
*****

I'm not nearly as savvy as you guys are so I can't pretend to fully understand what all of that means lol. Only that I can't install it..

I just rooted my NC (CM7), tried the trial app for Mantano (because of this thread) and bought the app one hour after I started trying the trial ;-) I have one problem, though. I also had the problem with the LCD density needing to be changed. I did that using the LCD Density app, cleared my cache in the Google Market and was able to get all the market back. But now I have lost my icon for Mantano. I still have the icon for the Mantano trial app and if I look at the market, it shows that the Mantano app is installed. I just can't find my icon
Anyone have any ideas? Thanks for your help!

Samples e-mailed in.

Also, I'd suggest including an option for not bypassing the ePub settings (ideally broken down into individually selectable elements like font, margins, etc).

Gregory, I talked to ptsenter in the other thread about this. He's been trying to help get it working on the Edge and this is what he said on it..

eDGe doesn't try to install on internal card at all. It seems there are two problems mounted one on top of another. And it's not a problem of eDGe per se.
The first problem is with Ermine and that it's beta - it means some components missing or not working properly. Relevant component in this case is devmapper or, actually, lack of it. devmapper is included in Dingo. But Dingo based on Android 1.6, with does not understand android:install.
Android 2.2 is the first to understand it. Mandano assigned "preferExternal" to it. preferExternal in theory means try SD card, if not try internal. But installing on SD card requires encrypting the app, which is provided through devmapper. Since it's missing the installation on SD card fails. Again in theory Android has to switch to internal. But here we have
The second problem: Android fails properly to process such kind of error and crashes aborting the install process.

That definitely will help. Mandano could have used "internalOnly", but they don't like it. They could have used "auto" which also may install on SD card and doesn't fail on eDGe.

I was wondering if using the steps to get apps onto the SD card would work.
Not at all: those steps switch logically SD card and internal memory, but relationship remains intact. And the problems above remain.

Hope that helps..

Regarding installing to SD card, I'm wondering if that's why I occassionally get a menu to choose Wait or Force Close. Maybe my SD card is just not fast enough for the program (a 4g Patriot instead of the preferred Sandisk).

Actually I'm not that concerned about accuracy just relative accuracy if that makes sense. If it shows that I'm 10% of the way through the book (or chapter for MR case), then I have a sense of accomplishment as I read through a long book. Especially when showing chapter pages, I can judge whether I am approaching the end of a chapter, or I need to bookmark because I'm only halfway through.

I found I used these features heavily when reading the lengthy Anna Karenina last month and am now tackling Brothers Karamasov. For smaller books or short chapters, it may not be that big of a feature.

Pending a more definitive fix, I've found that saving fonts to ePub from Atlantis word processor with fonts embedded (I settled on the Liberation Sans family as the best balance of readability, moderate file size, and embed-friendly licensing) avoids the problem.

I thought I'd check back in.. still no word on here or from their support site about the Edge not having a devmapper or being able to install this app. 10 days so far on support site and counting.

So, another of my really dumb questions. I just purchased Mantano. It did not appear to download. There is a folder titled Mantano. The fonts folder is empty. The only other file is the db, but when I go to it, I'm asked to choose a program and Mantano is not listed in the programs. How do I get it to download and install. I'm on the CM7 sd card dual boot.

Are you saying that you didn't test it first, to make sure it would work on your device? Why not?

Yes, I did test it and the trial works fine on my NC. Then I bought it. It was after I bought it that it didn't download, nor does it appear on any list so I can re-download it. The trial edition (now out of trial time) was still on my Nook Color. I uninstalled it, thinking that might be the problem. Still can't get a download - there is not even a place on the Mantano app to download or upgrade - but, of course Google Marketplace took my money.

Since purchases are tied to email, it's not really lost, only temporarily inaccessible for some reason. It could have something to do with the new Market and LCD density that a few people are talking about. I suggest following those threads for tips on how to overcome that.
