Wanting to clarify before making purchase??
I read a lot of fanfiction and will be copying to Word and transfering to a device,
"Which is better Kindle or Sony PS505?" "Is it true? to email your Kindle doc. that your are changed a fee?" I would perfer to buy content from independent publishers, (i.e. fictionwise, alinarpublishing etc.) "Which device would be easier and less of a hassle?" Thanks for everybodys help, it will mean a great deal to me!! |

It depends on how computer savvy you are. If you are comfortable with converting the files yourself, then you should choose based on whether you will use the extra features of the Kindle. If you're not comfortable, then you should go with the Kindle. |

In other words (just to be perfectly clear) you get an email saying "your file is done". There is a web link; you download the file to your mac/pc, and then you load it onto the Kindle. This technique is free.

Yep. Most of the time I do the free address but once in awhile when I don't have time, I just pay the ten cents. It's nice to have the option. I don't have a Windows PC right now, but when I did, I just used the Mobipocket program. It's really easy, too.

The other advantage in this case is that if the fiction is on the web you can always go to it with the Kindle without downloading anything. The Kindle web browser isn't the greatest, but when it's dealing with pages of just text it's just dandy.
i'd pick the Kindle... the conversion is just a simpler, faster process and even if you pay (.10) it's hardly much of a cost. I send academic journal articles to my device all the time... they're in pdf and even they come out great. I like the Sony Reader but when I had one I spent SO much time converting files for it. I hardly ever spend any time converting for the Kindle. |

Sorry Gideon, but what do you mean by "without downloading anything"? Even if you browse the file on the web, the information is still being downloaded to your device. How could you read it otherwise?
